Do I still owe on this loan?!

My son defaulted on NCT loan. As cosigner I paid monthly to collection agency. 3 mos ago offered/accepted reduced payoff to Conserve. Now receiving letters from NCO stating I still owe the balance that Conserve did not collect (because they offered to settle the loan for a reduced amount). Loan balance at time of pay off was around 12K. Paid Conserve about 4K. NCO wants 11K. Is this legal?

You need to know who has the account right now. Send a debt validation letter to both NCO and Conserve. Don't make any payments right now.
