Tri State called me for Total Lending saying they were going to garnish my wages and put a lien against any property. The debt is 3 years old, last activity on credit report was Aug of 09. Any help would be appreciated. Live in Mississippi

The statute of limitations for such debts in Mississippi is 3 years. As 3 years are over, Tri State or Total Lending won't be able to take any legal actions against you to recover their debts. And unless they get a judgment against you from the law court, they won't be able to garnish your wages or place a lien on your property.

Okay, these Tri State people out of GA keep calling and saying there is a civil suit from Total Lending. I sent a c/d letter 3 years ago to Total lending and haven't heard a thing and now they have this Tri State calling me. Can not find any information on them. The number that shows up is 404-474-0127. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

well since you don't reside in GA.it is a false threat.btw anna is absloutely right.the SOL is up on this, and they must serve you to sue you.just to confirm the illegality of the call.check your court clerk's website.use your name as the defendent.i guarantee there is nothing there.after that file an AG complaints as tri state is breaking the law in saying there is a suite when there isn't one.

well when pieces of garbage try to extort money.they can get that info.have your father-in-law file a police report as they broke the law by disclosing that bogus info.just know that is a tactic of theirs.calling everyone you know to try and humiliate you.file the AG complaint asap, and tell your family and friends a scamming idiot will be calling and to disregard.

Okay, I sent Total Lending an e-mail yesterday about all this and of course have not heard back from them. I called Tri State yesterday afternoon to get their mailing address and of course they would not give it to me because they wanted my name. Told them I wasn't giving them my name and if this was a legitimate business they shouldn't have a problem giving me their mailing address. They kept asking for my name....so just how do I get info on these people? I have googled the number they call from, I have googled Tri State but can't be sure what I found is their address because they never tell me the full business name just Tri State. The number they call from is 404-474-0127 out of Atlanta, GA. Thanks again to everyone!!!

Alright, just got an e-mail back from Total Lending this is what it says:
"We don't know who tri state is but yes you do need a debt validation letter if they can't provide you with that then that must be a fraudulent company calling you. Thank you."
Love it, Love it!!!! So just who is Tri State and why are they saying I owe Total Lending when Total Lending didn't say I owed them money??????

Just saw your posts.......Tristate tried the same thing with me. They called about a year ago and told me i owed a outstanding payday loan of course it was about 3 1/2 yrs old so i ignored the attempts until i got a court summons to appear. I later found out Tristate represented the payday loan company's attorneys and refferred my account back to them. I took out a loan for $600 and was ordered to repay over $5000 with court cost and interest incurred. My wages are being garnished 15% of my pay and a lien was put against my home for a $600 PAYDAY LOAN....OMG!!!!!!!...... I got another call from them about a month ago about another outstanding payday loan for $300 they are asking for $1300 but offered to settle this acct for $950 and i am taking the settlement.....Goodluck!
