I came across this forum today and it couldn't have come at a better time. A few months ago I took out a few payday loans to cover an unexpected expense. I was able to pay the loans back right away. A few weeks later I again had to rely on these loans and unfortunately could not pay them back like I had plan to. I am now in an extremely stressful financial situation that I am desperately needing to get out of. My bank account is overdrawn due to overdraft fees and bank charges and these loans are getting debited and I have no income left because my check is directly deposited. This appeared to be a financial nightmare that I could not see the end of, until today, when I came across this forum. I did not realize that these loans should not have been given to me considering they are all over $300 and I reside in California, also I am now certain that most of these lenders are not even licensed with my state.
I am now going to provide details of these loans, how much I have paid and would like to know if these lenders are licensed to lend in CA and what I should do next. Any advice on this matter is greatly appreciated.

You should immediately contact with California Department of Corporations in order to know whether or not pdl companies are licensed in your state. If they are not licensed, then you are required to pay them only the principal amount. Ask them for the refund, as you have overpaid them. Close your bank account asap to stop unauthorized withdrawal. No need to pay any interest or fees.
