7 payday loans
Date: Mon, 09/03/2012 - 19:45
I am in Colorado and have 7 payday loans...all of which I verified withthe Colorado AG are not licensed in Colorado:
Zip19, ameriloan, advancemetoday, blue king, DS lending, bayside cash and 500 fast cash.
I have been " trapped" for over a year, paying thousands in interest for previous loans. I finally got sick of it! My faultfor getting into this, yes shame on me. But, each of these companies has made slot of money off of me. Here is where I stand. Last week, I had my bank put a hard stop on all debits to my account. I opened a new account witha different bank and had my paycheck direct deposited there. Tonight, I will send each lender a revocation letter (for wage assignment and debit power), along with a detailing of how much interest I have paid them over the past several months. I am then offering each lender a compromise that I will notdemand all back interest in lieu of each loan being considered paid in full.
I have also submitted complaint for each of these lenders withthe colorado AG, and included their contact information in my letter.
Since thesecompanies just tried to debit my account Friday 8/31, I have not heard from them....but I expect to. Tomorrow I will contact my payroll to get them a wage assignment decline letter for these companies.
My question is: have I missed anything? Am I in the right here?
Thought and suggestions welcome! Man I am feeling good about this!

Welcome! It sounds like you've made an excellent start. The only company I have personally dealt with on your list is Ameriloan, and I know from personal experience they can be a pain to deal with.
The only thing different I would do is sit down, list the actual loan you took out and list what you have actually paid on it. Subtract the loan from what you have paid and demand a refund on the difference. Let us know what happens!
Same fix
Only more! I am in the same boat. Only after listening to the great advice here, I am sending my letters tomorrow asking for refunds and I added a clause to my statement stating that if they contact me at work, I will file additional complaints.
Also, I am trying to get away with not contacting my HR department. I am hoping that they will not contact them...

It's better you notify the HR department first. What's going to make you look worse to HR, people calling up saying you're a deadbeat and that they are invoking a voluntary assignment, or you going in and saying a scam is targetting you and to ignore calls about you?

Well, I sure feel empowered about this. I know it will have some very frustrating moments ahead - but I became SO furious at myself and the lenders when I realized what they were doing was not really legal. Getting the confirmation from the Colorado AG certainly helped as well.
When you say "Ameriloan can be a pain" - what was your experience? They are the ones I am pissed at the most frankly.
Also - is it really worth while to detail all the interest payments I have made to them at this point? If, by the grace of God, I can get all of these companies to see they have made out, and to call it even - I will be happy. I somewhat feel the past interest they got from me....I deserved. BUT, if they press me, I will take a stance to demand the past interest and reinforce the good deal they are getting.
Thanks again.

Good for you!! We are victims of these pay day loans. I also have one with 500 fast cash and I sent my letter to them last week. They have sent me to their compliance department. I faxed and emailed them my letter to inform them that of the $700 I received I paid $470 and I would only be paying them back $230 in two (2) monthly payments. I have not heard anything yet.
The account linked to this loan was already closed and I no longer work at the same company. So I did not contact my HR dept at my current employer.
I have called the regular number for them and they tell me they can't help me I have to deal with compliance. What should I do now?
Rights to Declining a wage assignment
Hi, I was wondering if there is anyway to decline the wage assignment they are trying to send to my employer. I have 5 payday loans that I need to take care of but 4 of them are already trying to get a wage assignment, is there anyway I can stop this from happening?

Feeling good. I also have fallen into the multi payday loan world. I like what you said you did, but I am not sure if I am understanding it correctly.
First what do you mean by Colorado AG.
I hope you don't mind me asking, but what type of information did you put into your letters. You also mentioned contacting you payroll regarding a wage assignment decline letter. Is this to protect you from wage garnishment.
Can I demand that I only pay back the initial amount of the loan. I am drowning and don't know where to go.

You'll need to provide us with more information with regard to who the original lenders are. Also that doesn't protect you from garnishment but from voluntary wage assignment, which you may or may not have signed. Follow the links in my signature.

Hi there,
The Colorado AG is the Colorado Attorney General. What did Ameriloan do to me? They tried to sue me!! (They were NOT successful;)).
