I recently discovered that a few of the installment loans I have are tribal loans, two I have over paid, bestchoice123 and Max lend I have sent a letter to both stating that I have paid the principal and that the loan is illegal and that I revoked the ACH withdrawal I live in Wisconsin, any thoughts on how to go about stopping them? I am following the steps that I am finding in other posts

Could you tell me how you found out they are Tribal lenders? Also did you close your bank account, or are they stopping taking payments?

I looked into the companies more, they state if they are tribal, also look at your contracts it should say in there, I have not closed my bank account they have stopped taking payments, I read your post, sounds like you are in a similar situation as me!

I have a loan from Max lend also. How did you stop the auto withdrawal and did you have to close your bank account?

I sent bestcoice123 an email stating they are illegal and how I have overpaid on the loan and am asking for a refund on the overage amount. The account shows negative when I log in and they are not responding to my messages. Any thoughts?

Chances are less that they would respond to your messages. Threaten them that you'll go to the state attorney general if they don't give you a refund.

You can stop auto withdrawal by submitting the ACH revokation letter in the bank.

I will send bestchoice 123 another email threatening them with that I will go to the state attorney general. As for Max lend I emailed them and my account shows 0 due I have also sent the letter to my bank. So far nothing has come out of my account for these two

Idiot→Tribal lending entity (TLE) offers a loan with a higher interest rate over the internet to consumers nationwide. They violate the federal law and considered as illegal.

In which state do you live in?

Tim → I would suggest you close the account as soon as possible.

Thank you for the information. And I will keep everyone up to date. Is there a template letter out there for threatening with the attorney general?

I am still waiting on bestchoice123. I sent them numerous emails and have not received a single response. If I log in it shows the account being negative, I have not received any phone calls or anything, seems weird

How much have you overpaid? Tough to get back money. It isn't weird. They are not calling you so as to avoid giving you a refund.

I overpaid by $1658.10. Just today I received a letter stating that the loan is paid in full they said nothing about a refund for overpayment so I emailed them back asking when I should be expecting the check. At least I received a Paid in full letter. This forum has been a HUGE help and I have learned a lot and have been able to get myself out from the mess I got myself into!

If they don't give you any reply, then threaten to sue them or report the matter to the state attorney general.
