I have been reading all the posts on payday loans to try to end the misery that i am going through. From what I've read, the principal is the only amount of money that I am obligated to pay back to Great Sky Cash as payday loans are illegal in Georgia. The principal was $300 and $360 was taken out of my checking account before I could finally get it closed. Alliance Funding is now calling my job and home threatening me and I want to know what letters to send to them. When they found out that my checking account was closed, Alliance has become a royal pain. I want to get certified letters out this weekend and want to make sure that I use the correct ones. There has been great advice on here and I just want to make sure that I get things done properly. I did contact the Attorney Generals Office and was told that Great Sky was trying to get around the law by saying that tribal laws do not apply. She said the bottom line was they are illegal. Do I also need to files complaints with the AG Office and the BBB? Thanks for any advice.

As payday lending is prohibited in your state, so you are required to pay them only the principal amount. Since you have paid them more than the principal amount, so you can ask them for the refund. Illegal payday lenders can???t take any legal action against you. You can also file a complaint against them to the State Attorney General or FTC.
