Lending of pdl is forbidden in the State of Pennsylvania.

So when these people call me what should I say?

That is the wrong information there is a loophole in PA. payday lender laws:

Pennsylvania allows an internet based payday loan company to lend legally as long as it is licensed in any US State. They would need to follow the laws of the state they are licensed out of, not the state the consumer is in.

Then are the above ones I mentioned legal?

I believe that as of feb 2009 the laws for pa changed

As of Feb 1, 2009 the pa law has changed. A pdl MUST be licensed in the state of pa to be legal. All others (not licensed in pa) are illegal

So what should I do next, pay off just what I borrowed and tell them beat it or should I just ignore their calls?

I closed my account and reopened a new one with the same bank can they get into that account?
The lady at the bank was cool about it I told her the situation and she closed my account and put fraud on it.

stay off the phone with them if at all possible. If you happen to answer and you find out its them just hang up. Read the sticky about dealing with illegal pdl, the 13th post down in that thread is a sample letter you can send them, adjusting to your situation.

They have contacted me since last week when I told them a friend of the family who is into finances is helping me.

Wow, you were not kidding these guys call me atleast 30 times every day.

I live in PA, I got myself into trouble with pdl's in 2007. I tried using a debt consoladation place that did deal with pdl's. (because not to many of them do. I think name had the word country in it.) That didn't work so well ,the pdl companies didn't like it and the pmt's weren't going out when the company said they would. The pdl's were still there and I still could not pay them. Well I changed my phone number and the calls at work slowed done greatly. My husband and I just said we would deal with them one at a time as they came up. We took care of a couple of small ones and the other day Cashnet called. It was a girl she said she was from a prosocuters office and that a suppena was being issued to me. She left the number only of the compay and a case #. This guy I spoke to was very nice and helpful but I can't help but feel that the 1st call was a set up to make me return the call. Does anyone agree with me on that one? I also read that in 2009 pdl laws changed in PA. Do you think that is why I haven't heard from so many of these companies? Any input will help and sorry for the long story.

I am still getting about 30 calls a day and they still call my work but I have them tell the pdl companies I don't work there anymore.
