I live in NJ, I needed money for rent awhile ago and I got a loan for $150 from them. That was the 13th of Jan., the last payment I made was 14th of Feb. of $45 (unsure of how much I paid them up to that point). Then a course of unrelated events happened, I had to close my bank account. But they could no longer take money out of my account. They now want to settle for $240.

A couple of questions, What will be the best course of action? I'm not willing to pay them $240 when I only burrowed $150 and had made a few payments already, not to mention they call me twice a day back to back leaving voicemails. And also call my work.

And I've read that PDLs are illegal in NJ. Can anybody elaborate on that?

Hey I got the same email....You might want to check you state laws when it comes to pdl....I know in the state of maryland that its illegal.....I emailed them a cease and desist letter...and also maryland laws...that was a few days ago and i havent heard from them since but im waiting....i only owed them $65 bucks and they want now the full amount again...no way am i paying someone twice for the same account... :x

well i would respond to there GENEROUS offer with a rebuttal stating that you know they are illegal and you not only don't owe,but are entitled to get the 30.00 you overpaid back.then file AG,BBB,and FTC complaints.
