Can anyone recommend a good company I can work with to settle my payday loans?

I am located in Utah, which from what I understand is a very friendly state to payday lenders. All of mine are internet loans. I'm adding up the totals and amounts right now. I'm not currently in default, but can no loner afford the payments.

Should I close my checking account right away, or is it better to wait until I've gone into default?

Also, once I go into default, will they immediately start calling my references? I want to avoid it if at all possible.

Any advice on how to settle these myself will also be greatle appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Here is a list of the lenders and principal amounts owed:

CashnetUSA: $1,000
247Advances: $200
United Cash Loans: $350
JD Marketing: $300
Summit Group: $300
MyCashnow: $100.00
Check City: $700
ACC: $300
PaydayMax: $400
Paydayone: $500

Any help from people who have worked something out with any of these lenders on their own would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

So I got this back from 247 Advances after submitting my Cease and Desist to them.

"The Loan Agreement, to which we have adhered to by funding the loan, detailed that your loan was subject to the Arbitration Laws of Ireland, a fact by which you confirmed your understanding and acceptance of via the online signature you made. Please note, we are not a US company, have never prescribed to be a US company and have no US presence, as such are not subject to the US laws you detail. Please refer to your copy of the Loan Agreement. Under the terms of the Agreement you consented to make payments via ACH until the loan was satisfied in full. We will continue to make all reasonable attempts to make contact and to attempt collection of all funds due and payable to enable the loan agreement to be satisfied, as per the original provisions. Regards, Customer Services"

Now what should I do?

Anyone have any tips on dealing with United Cash Loans? So far I have paid $315 in rollover fees on a $350 dollar loan. I sent the an offer to settle the loan for the additional $35 I owe in principal but have only received an emial back saying that they have received my inquiry and to call customer service if I have any more questions.

So I've decided to go with Town and County to help me get out of this mess. I just spoke with them on the phone and their rates seem resonable.

I know I could propably do this on my own, but I'm facing some health problems that are being made worse by this situation and having someone else take care of this allows me to concentrate of my health and life.

I want to thank everyone for their advice. I'll probably stay around and lurk since I've come to enjoy reading these forums.

Town and Country has my first payment and said they would start contacting the PDLs today for me. Which is good because they are going to find out tomorrow that my checking acount is closed when they try and debit it.

While I feel good about the situation, I am still really scared about what is going to happen. If anyone has any spare happy thoughts or energy, I'd appreciate it being sent my way.

Thanks,

Ryan

Thanks guys.

It was really stupid of me to get all of these loans and I keep beating myself up over it. This could very well cost me my marriage (soemthing I am extremely fearful of as my wife and kids are everything to me). Coupled with my health problems it just gets a little overwhelming at times for me.

I'm glad I found a place where I can come and find support.

Thanks again.

Well I double checked with my old bank this morning and made sure that my account was still closed. They said that it was even though the PDLs tried to hit it.

I also spoke with T & C who reassured me that every one of my PDLs will work with them with a possible exception of 247 Advances. The representative said that they did not have anything on them.

I figure I'll start getting calls on Monday or Tuesday from everyone. Do you think it would be wise to send out emails to the PDLs in advance advising them that I am with T&C and to contact them directly?

Thought I would give an update.

Everything defaulted on Friday. I've received a couple of e-mails but no phone calls yet. I've also sent faxes, e-mials and registered mail revoking any wage assignemnts I may have signed. In those letters I also indicated that I was working with Town and Country.

Check City has already responded that they will work with Town and Country. I'm knocking on wood right now that this will be less painful than I originally thought.

T & C says that Most PDLs will try to tell me that they don't work with them. However, in the end they always cash the checks.

I told the lady at Credit Protection Depot that she would get more money if they worked with T&C than she will trying to take me on. She said she would speak with her supervisor about it.

The one thing on my side is I am an attorney by trade (don't ask how as an attorney I got sucked into this mess. Its too long of a story).

I know Utah law very well and I know my rights under it. They are not licensed in Utah if they don't back off the $400 I owe them could cost them several thousand dollars in state fines.

I don't have PDLs, but I do have a lot of credit card debt. In California, state law allows me to send a Cease & Desist to the OC. However, one creditor that I send a letter to says that they don't have to abide by it because it is a business credit card (my husband's as a sole proprietor). I just told them last time I talked to them that I would no longer talk to them on the phone because my situation isn't going to change in one day so there is no need to call me daily. Today they called and I answered, but as soon as they introduced themselves, I hung up. They haven't called back yet!

So anyway, maybe as Goudah suggested earlier, you should just tell them to call T & C, then hang up.

Thought I would give another update as I haven't been around for a couple of days.

Check City, CashnetUSA, PaydayOne all paid in full. This takes care of all of my legal ones.

247 Advances I removed from my T&C plan because I have paid them over $600 on a $200 loan. I did make one mistake with them yesterday though. When they called and started to get snippy with me because I wasn't going to give them money I told the person on the phone to f*** off and die.

PayDay Max still wants to be difficult so I am filing my complaints with every regulatory authority I can find. I am also researching what legal recourse I have against them.

My wife is not going to divorce me although it will take several months of marriage counseling to work things out.

All in all I feel things are looking up for me.

This place has been a true blessing. Thanks again to every one who posts here.
