Im in CA and I borrowed $400 from Vip Cash/Qloot.
Since receiving the $400 I've paid a total of $480 in fees. Are they legal in CA? What should I do?

Sorry I posted my previous post in the wrong Forum.

The address I found on them is in Nevada

VIP Cash
1700 E. Desert Inn Rd
Suite 207
Las Vegas, Nevada 89109
Phone: 888-678-2999
Fax: 888-272-5158

HEre are the Payday loan laws for California (just select your state),

What this means to you is that the pdl must be licensed in CA to lend in CA.

So if the pdl is licensed in another state you are only obligated to repay what you borrowed, which you did.

Is this your only pdl or are there others?

There are several members here from CA and they will be along and can answer your question. THe question is, what do you want to do about your pdls, if you want to get out of the cycle we can help you with this. The first thing you will need to do is close or block your account. The pdl will not stop debiting unless you do this. Here is a link with information about closing your account. You should read this before you talk to your bank. Also, do not tell the pdl what you are doing becuase they will debit your account for whatever they think you owe.

I'm ok with Paying Payday one. Their fees are not illegal as far as I can tell.

However, closing the account may be a problem. The account is $700+ negative. I assume they will not close the account unless it is brought current. I have 2 other overdrawn accounts with the same bank! Also, I suspect my overdraft priviledges for one of my accounts have been revolked...

Wow...well, with Payday one, their fees are not illegal but they are excessive. Given the situation with your bank account, you are going to have to revoke debit authorization and work out a payment arrangement with them anyway...or they will continue to debit the account, driving it further into the negative...the same with VIP...I would start by revoking debit authorization. All you have to do is send them a letter stating that you hereby revoke authorization to debit any of your bank accounts.

dc, you can basically just type up a short sweet letter for the time being. Put the pdl name and address at the top. Put the date. Then just type that you revoke their authorization to debit ANY bank account you now have or have in the future. Short and sweet. Type your name and send that baby off.
