I reside in New York and stupidly took a payday loan from these people last year. After i discovered that this practice was illegal i immediately closed my account and sent them an email informing them that I had become aware the transaction was illegal and since I had repaid the principle loan of 600 as well as excess i did not owe them anything. Now i am receiving calls from a company supposedly called T & R associates saying i committed internet fraud and they would be attaching a wage assignment to my social security number. What is my recourse at this point

You should also, just to be safe, put in writing that you're revoking any and all wage assignments you may have signed. Email that to VIPLS and also give a copy to your payroll department. You owe them nothing further. Did you file complaints with the NY AG and the FTC? If not, do that too.
