closing a banking account?

Hello! I'm from Virginia and have a few illegal payday loans. I've been reading this forum and many suggest to close your bank account and open a new one. I tried to go to the link about important information about closing an account but get a "page does not exist" note. Before I go and close my account I need to know what to do when I get there. Also, should I open a new account elsewhere or is my current bank safe? I bank at Wachovia, soon to be Wells Fargo. And I've also notice some people warn PDL will force open a closed account? How do you keep that from happening? I plan on sending out the letters after I close my account. Thanks!

As a former Wachovia employee, you need to go into the store and talk to the store manager. (Wachovia/Wells Fargo calls them stores, not branchs) You need to tell them that you are closing with an ACH block.
