If I close my account on 5/11/09 and the next ACH is scheduled to come out on 5/21/09 will that be enough time to prevent them from taking money out of my account. What should I tell the bank if they ask me why I want to close my account?
I have also singed up with PDL Assistance in Alabama. The person that I spoke with told me that they are registered with the BBB and explained how the program works. The person was very honest about the company and explained that complaints were filed against the parent company but those complaints were addressed and resolved. Has anyone heard of PDL Assistance.
I also need info on closing my bank account ,my bank is Wachovia.

Well that depends on the bank's policy. Some banks have an "force open" policy in place which will cause your account to reopen within a period of time after being closed. For example a deposit or debit can reopen your account if it comes through within 2 weeks of your account being closed. So this is why you need to speak to a branch manager and get clarification on this. Ask them to put a freeze/block on your account after it is closed. i did that with BofA and was successful.

If your accout is not overdrawn I really see no reason for telling them anything. Just go to the bank and close it out and open up a new one if need be. *FYI* if they ask you can let them know your banking information MAY have been compromised and you want to close it to be on the safe side.

PDL Assistance has mixed reviews, so I suggest you do a search right here on the boards to get more information on them.

i was able to just do a stop payment for all future debits from 2 payday loans that i had instead of closing my account. it cost me 20 dollars each but i rather pay that than the 150 plus paydown payment of 50 plus the 30 from the bank for the NSF for each payday loan. how about trying that?
