As far as I know, Alpine Direct is a payday loan company. If you haven't taken out a payday loan from them, then you won't be liable for payments. Moreover, they won't be able to take any legal actions against you. I think they are just trying to scare and scam you.

Bounced checks other that payday loans do have legal and sometimes criminal implications. If it was for a payday loan, they are breaking the law...debts are civil, not criminal. Who did you borrow from , what state do you live in and how much do you owe???
