Weird development with Plain Green
Date: Mon, 10/29/2012 - 10:44
In speaking with the bank to make sure everything was together on their end, I was asked for an exact $ amount of what would be pulled from my account if the ACH was not revoked. I signed into my PGL account online to find the following in red:
Your PlainGreenLoans account is currently flagged as having an invalid bank account number. Without a valid bank account number, we are unable to electronically process your payments or refinance.
Please contact Account Services toll free at (866) 614-7103 to update your bank information and have this flag removed or to make other payment arrangements.
Once we have updated your PlainGreenLoans account information you can return here and process a payment.
Your last payment of $297.76 was processed 10/15/2012.
SO odd, right? They clearly had the correct account when I paid my first payment. I still think I should close my bank account, which I will do on the 3rd after paychecks have been deposited and rent has cleared....but I'm not sure what to expect now as I've gotten no actual email communique from PGL. Thoughts?
Looks like its a form letter they send when a payment doesn't go
Looks like its a form letter they send when a payment doesn't go through. You revoked the ACH agreement with them and they abided by it. Don't be surprised, however, if they suddenly feel compelled to pull funds from your account like nothing happened. Closing your checking account protects your assests, but you have to confirm with your bank if ACH pulls can reopen the account. PNC for example let me close my account and ACH pulls couldn't reopen the account after 24-48 hours. I just had to close the account 48-72 hours before the lenders were scheduled to pull from my checking account. Other banks will reopen an account if a transaction comes through and you will be stuck with the fees. If that's the case, just freeze the account by setting it up as deposit only.
