Cash yes wont take a payment and put me in collections! help!

Hi guys,
I called Cash Yes recoveries department. The lady was nice in a snotty way...anyways i took out a loan for $250 with $75 finance fees. I told them i was only going to pay the principal balance (i live in New york). She said thats not her problem b/c i contacted them for the loan and at this point i owe them $600!???!??? I told her that these loans are illegal in new york and she came right back and said theyre legal in Belize and YOU contacted US. I again said im only going to pay the principal balance and she said she will only take a payment of $325 and i told her no i will only pay $250. She said she wont take my payment and is sending me to collections. I TRIED TO PAY! what do i do now?? im willing to pay and theyre not willing to take a payment!. Now what happens if the collection agency is illegal - do i still pay them to get them off my back....please help!!

she originally told me the $600 amount and then said she would close my account if i gave $325 right then and there..just wanted to add that bc i forgot to put it in the original post
