Western Sky/Cash Call advice
Date: Wed, 01/23/2013 - 16:53
I am in Ohio. I took out a loan of $5075.00 with Western Sky. The loan was transferred to Cash Call which is illegal in Ohio. So far I have paid $3298 which leaves me a balance of $1776. Like others have mentioned, I am willing to pay the principal amount but I am tired of being taken advantage of with their outrageous interest rates.
I signed up with a debt settlement agency but I am now having second thoughts. They stated that they are familiar with Cash Call, but they will not begin working on a settlement offer with them for at least 5 months until funds have accrued in the escrow account. Should I attempt to work this out with Cash Call or just let the Debt Settlement company do their thing? So far I have only missed one payment that was due 7 days ago. I've received 2 emails from Cash Call that they were going to try again in two days. I have closed the bank account that they have access to, so that is not an issue.
I know the loan is illegal, but I did borrow the money and I'm willing to pay back that amount. I'm very worried about getting sued. Please advise.
Suing you is a very remote
Suing you is a very remote possibility (rather an improbability) given that the parties involved are Cash Call and Western Sky, one half of which is an illegal tribal lender. As far as settling this account is concerned, you are quite capable of doing what any debt settlement company can or will do. Just send a mail to Cash Call clearly stating that you are ready to repay the remainder of the principal balancethrough money orders or a prepaid debit card and that you would do so at your own convinience. Also mention that you are not interested in a payment plan or any kind of arrangements either. That should take care of that.
Working with a debt
Working with a debt settlement company is simply a waste of time, especially for an illegal payday loan. So, try to work this out with Cash Call on your own.
You're correct. You only need to pay back the principal amount. Nothing else.
They won't be able to sue you.
