Reading the posts lately, It seems the complaits are working....very very slowly but never the less are working. In my limited understanding of the "system" the more complaints, the more valid they are and the more various agencies that will take notice. I have to believe in strength in numbers. If we do nothing than it will never end for anyone. Atleast if we are filing we have a chance to force the agencies to enact change.

Absolutly!
One major thing it does help is it lets your state know there is a problem. If they don't get enough complaints, they are not going to do anything about the pdl problem.
Everyone needs to file complaints against illegally operating pdl's. No matter what the outcome. Even if they mark you PIF right away. You still need to make your state aware of the problem.

Tweety...I know you said you filed with the AG earlier this year, correct? I would call them or re file..possibly your paper work was mis placed or something...

NOt sure if this is the proper advice, but if getting an answer, acknowledgement, or verification of receipt of complaint from the various agencies is something you need to have ( and I would want it myself, especially if I was building cases ) then contact the agencies and find out if they received your complaint/correspondence and if they are planning to do anything with it. It is still a good sign if they (I forget waht the official term is ) in the process of collecting documentation on a company or a complaint...at least they have acknowledged there may be an issue.

I would have no idea who to call.....my point is why refile? I must be doing something wrong because I first started filing complaints in the beginning of the year....the only response I've gotten was from the BBB about Ambassador Collections and they didnt respond- big deal :(
They may not have responded at the time because they didn't have
They may not have responded at the time because they didn't have enough complaints. Most state's don't act until enough people complain about things.
When I was going through my pdl mess, I filed complaints with 3 or 4 different agencies. I only heard back from 1 or 2. But the others still got my complaints. I know because I called to confirm.

I know it is hard to keep fighting, especially when it seems every time you turn around someone is throwing something else at you and you feel like you are in quicksand and the mor you fight, the faster you sink and no one is hearing you yell. It is important for you to be heard and you feel like no one is listening right now and it sucks. I know this is easier for me to say and hard for you to do right now... I have read many of your posts and you are going through alot..but please do not give up. If you do, they win. Look back and see what you have accomplished and how far you have come..You can do this.

Thanks for the kind words.....I wasnt online for awhile because I've been so busy with work....I came back to check in and I've read all these posts about pdls- are they licensed? are they not? maybe you need to go by the company state laws? well, if you get a loan you have to go by their laws yada yada yada.....and I've started to get really confused. NONE of my loans I got last year were licensed......now I'm hearing well it may be licensed in their state to give loans....how in the world do you figure that out? I have no clue.....
I need to stay on this board more often so I dont get so lost anymore- Thanks all for the encouragement. It means alot.

I just got a response from World Wide Cash for PIF and I am supposed to be getting a refund. Up until a couple weeks ago, they were still calling trying to get another $200 out of me. Stick with it!

It can come to that in many different ways. There isn't just one way to do things. You write letters to the pdl's, file complaints, keep working on them, etc.
It can be frustrating when you feel like you are getting nowhere
It can be frustrating when you feel like you are getting nowhere with the complaints, but I do believe it is important to do so. Certain organizations need to be aware of these illegal tactics, so they can take a more proactive stand on protecting the consumers. That's why I think it is importants, also to document your case. I work for lawyers, and trust me, it is VERY important to have a paper trail of EVERYTHING!

Please stick with it. It does take work, but ultimately it is worth it. I have in the last two weeks got 3 pifs. I didnt know in the begining if the complaints and letters would work, but i did what everyone advised me to do. again, it is a bit of effort, but it is soooo worth it.

are people filing complaints with the AG if they have overpaid the loan and/or the CA's are debiting accounts. Or are people filing out complaints with their AG because of the unlicensed company they are running-giving out ipdl's that are unlicensed?

I filed on everything. The fact they are illgeal, they charge outrageous interest, I have overpaid them all and they owe me a refund, I sent them a letter revoking ach/debit and they continually debit my account, my letter tells them not to call and they call...etc. I figure whatever does not apply, they can overlook.

I still owe a small amount on the ones I got last year.....none of the companys will send me anything in writing so far what ive paid....I've sent them Certified mail.........and I did file complaints but that was the beginning of this year.....

Tweety...please don't give up...file with the AG's office and then follow up with a call. That's what I did...and they did send letters to all the ones I filed on...then I got a letter back from the assistant AG in charge of my mess...he would give me the answer and I took it from there. Even if you still owe..they can mediate for you so maybe the resolution will be to just pay the balance of the principle...or if it's a small amount they may just "forgive" it. The BBB can help too...1 of mine was resolved that way too. I believe the more complaints they get the more that will get done.

Do not give up, that is what they are wanting you to do. Keep filing/fighting those complaints because I guarantee you someone in those offices is going to take notice and get something done to get this out of their hair so to speak. Just keep nagging them, become a thorn in their side.
They will be so glad to get rid of you they will most likely do anything to make that happen (LOL). I know this first hand after working for the government for a number of years.
