I made some online payday loans in 2006 about 2 weeks after I lost my job. The situation is this I am now working and they contacted me and I started payning them off. In May I was told that I could do a final payoff of $500.00..I called the to make arrangements and someone else told me $250.00. When I started to go with that and called the office ANOTHER representative told me it would be $450.00 At that point I closed my account and quit paying because I felt it was a scam. They will not send me any paperwork regarding the loan. I requested something in writing and they said when I pay it off I will get something in writing. I then got a call from someone else from a DIFFERENT compay (alledgely) saying that they have tried contacting me via postal mail but I have never received anything and they gave me an amount that I owe which was the amount that I had been paying on plus a new amount. When I told this "NEW" company that I had been paying on that loan already they told me that they would deduct the amount that I said I paid. Why would someone do that if I owe them? I believe it is all a scam..They said they are going to sue. I'm about ready to let them. I have never seen in writing anything that I owe. Are they required to send me some sort of paperwork? Please someone give me some answers I need some direction. HELP!

I live in Michigan and I can't remeber where I borrowed from it was so long ago. I think onw was Payday Loan Yes. Or someting like that. But the people calling won't even give me the names. And they said I was committing check fraud. However that part I don't understand.

This is a scam.

Either the illegal PDL is calling you trying to extort more money from you, or they've sold your personal information to another company who's trying to extort money from you.

Don't give them a dime. Don't verify anything. And, after you tell them that you know this is a scam, you've reported them to the FTC, to your state's Attorney General and to your local police department, don't talk to them again.

Make sure to follow through on the reporting and let your friends, family and employer know that, if they receive a call to just hang up. Tell them someone has stolen your identity.
