Payday loan originated online with Zest Cash in Missouri. Zest Cash switched to Spot Loan, which I know they are tribal. Since loan originated with Zest, which was licensed in MO at one time, do I still owe? I have paid principal in full. Not sure what to do about the interest?

I am telling them that I am paid in full. But don't want to get myself in trouble if I am incorrect on this information

Everything I've read would indicate that if Spot loan is indicating they are the creditor/company and Stellar is saying that it's Spot Loan you allegedly owe money too then that's all that matters. Zest cash doesn't exist anymore.

Tell stellar their paper is worthless as this is an illegal tribal loan and therefore unenforceable.

Send Stellar this: (using tribal)
The original creditor is located (offshore/on an indian reservation) making the contract null and void. Any further communication from you to me or anyone associated with me in regards to this illegal debt will be taken a a violation of the FDCPA and I will not only report you to the FTC and my state AG, but I will take legal action against you.
Govern yourself accordingly.

They are illegal tribal lender. Just because they changed it to some other boiler room crap company doesn't mean it's suddenly legal.

I did close down my bank account in October and notified Spot Loan that I had overpaid. A couple weeks ago I received a letter from Stellar Recovery stating they wanted $1100 more for my loan. Friday I send them a cease and desist.

I guess what worries me is that at one time Zest was actually legal in MO. But they switched to Spot Loan last May, (NOT Spot on Loan), and they are tribal now. So I guess I am just scared that I am not doing something right with this whole process!

I guess I need someone to explain how it works if a company was once licensed, but now tribal and switched your loan??

I am really concerned with dealing with Spot Loan. I search this forum and I hardly ever see anyone who has dealt with these people! Again, I just need to know if Zest Cash was once legal, but switched to a tribal company called Spot Loan in the middle of my loan, is my loan now considered illegal? Sorry to keep posting, but I just cannot find an answer! Thanks...

Who is communicating with you about the loan now? Is it spot Loan? I'm not a lawyer but I'd say it's not legal now since the company has reverted to tribal.
Soaplady or someone else may have a better idea.

Thank you guys. I did send certified letter to Stellar stating exactly what you said above. They have not contacted me as of yet. I did actually contact FTC and also told them that in letter. Hopefully they will just go away!
