Hi,

I recently set up a plan with T & C, consolidating some old credit card debt and payday loans. The payday loans are all in good standing at this point. T & C told me to stop payment, which I did by ID#, as suggested on this site. They said that when the payday loan companies do not get my payments on Friday 5/12, T & C will then be able to contact them and negotiate. I am really really nerous for them to not get their payments. What will happen? Can anyone tell me? I am really scared they will sue me or harass me.

Thanks.

You did the right thing by contacting T&C before you defaulted. I did the same thing, I also called all my pdl's and told them what I was doing, as well as closing my checking account to all debits.
I was a nervous wreck! They shouldn't harrass you if you are setting up payment arrangments. I havene't got but 1 or 2 calls from them, and a couple of emails.
Let them try and sue you, chances are they aren't legal in your state and they won't be coming there to sue you.
Just sit back, relax and let T&C do their thing. If you get a call, just give them T&C's number and hang up.
Good luck

jeanne bean, payday loan companies, along with many collection agencies, prey on the fears of people like you. You are doing the right thing though. The best way to overcome your fears and avoid being taking advantage of is to become informed about the law, your rights, and what is really going on. Reading this board is a great start to that. Good luck!

dmj is right. The more knowledgable you are about your rights, the more self confident you'll be when dealing with these people. I try to be as professional as possible on the phone and not stoop to their harrassment and tactics. If I don't like the conversation, I simply hang up.

The only address to come up on BBB website was Arrowhead. FTR and Epayday said my account was transfered to a collections agency called I-Collect but they only have a machine and I am not leaving my social on a machine.

One step cash's fax number is 800-689-6140...I am with them, they will accept the T&C proposal, so don't worry. I have tried to get a mailing address out of them, but all I ever heard was, "T&C can just fax us a proposal" so, just tell T&C that is all you can get out of them, and ask them to fax the proposal instead of mailing it. Hope this helps. I don't have the addresses for the others.

Thank you all for your help. I will give T&C One Step's fax number and the address for One Click Cash. These people are so crazy. If they want to get paid, they should give up their address.

One thing you have to understand about PDL's. They have soooo many account go into collections. More so than the accounts that actually stay in good standing. DON'T get nervous. They are use to this believe me. If they start calling, send them a cease and desist. Let Town and Country do their thing and take the phone calls. That is what you are paying them for. This is just a baby step to financial freedom. We all went through it

Michelle, I will be looking out for the email address of epayday and let you know. Talk to your bank and explain the situation. They will be able to block the transaction ID of the company and stop further debits from your account. Many of us have used this method for stopping the debits and are successful with it. You can also give a try.

I sooooo understand those fears, I am just now beginning to go through the process of getting my life back, it has helped a great deal these past few days knowing that I am not the only one who got caught up in the payday loan trap. I have already been helped by several supportive people on thsi board and I am glad I found this site. I have been able to sleep better at night...no joke !!!

i think this information is crap! I followed your information about stopping debit and on my account with a pdl company and got into deeper debt. The pdl company sent my loan to a 3rd party collection agency where i was assessed more fee's. By the time they were done with me, i had doubled what i owed if i would have just paid out. SO SELL YOUR BULLSHIT ELSEWHERE! ALL I KNOW THIS SITE IS RUN BY A PDL COMPANY!

Michael, stopping the debits of payday loan companies has helped others if this didn't work in your case. I assume your lender has hired a collection agency to recover the money. Contact them directly and work out your payment arrangements. Guess, if your account had not been sent to the CA, there would have been different words in your mouth. You need to analyze your individual situation and work accordingly. It is your choice if you want to take the advice of others or do something on your own.

The thing is..Closing your account is only the first step..You can't just let it go, you have to contact the pdls and make arrangements. Of course they'll send you to a collection agency if they don't hear from you!
And btw...We're not selling anything. You chose to come here. This site has helped myself and countless other people.
