This is my first posting during my first visit (although I have been here reading for literally hours). Count me in the PDL Club. I didn't know I could fall so far so fast! I have been a stupid member of the aforementioned club since about November 2005. Until I came upon this site I really believed that there was absolutely nothing I could do. I didn't even think anyone would believe me as I tried to explain how a need of $300 became a cost of $3000 with the added bonus of losing everything I have, which isn't all that much. I could see no way out and since I also deal with a mental illness (not an excuse but an issue) this had become way more than I could handle and it even left me questioning how real IS IT? It helps me to know that some "normal" folk have suffered with the same misjudgement. I wish I could word this better but I said all that to say that I am no longer seriously considering taking my life. I have become terrified of my bank account. I had to start taking my rent out before the PDL people took the rest of my monthly disablity income and I couldn't see how I could live like this for one day more. So thank you all for giving me the courage to STOP and GET OFF OF this crazy financial merry-go-round. No, my problem is not solved but just reading stories/advice has given me what I did not wake up with - HOPE !

Jaelyn----I am so happy you have found this site and now are filled with hope. You have definitely made a step in the right direction. This site is fantastic and yes, MANY of us have or are in the same boat as you. Believe it or not, I was in the same frame of mind as you are about a month and a half ago. I hated even looking at my bank account. But, now I am in consolidation and life looks bright again. Has someone called you with debt counseling yet? Keep reading and posting your questions and answers here. You will find a new purpose and new friends. Remember your life is more precious than money. That sounds kind of lame, but it is true. By the way, you worded your post just fine.

You should start with closing you checking account and opening another, some banks will do this over the phone and even transfer your disabilty check to the new account until you get it changed.Dont let these PDLenders scare you,and consider consolidation,I did and things are getting better everyday.Once you take these steps, you will feel a weigh lifted.Good Luck, and hang in there.

Thanks. I intend to contact my bank today and change my acct to another or savings if they allow me to. At least that is a start and I will apply for credit counseling and after this post I am going to take the leap and do "My Story". I think it is great to be able to help others as I help myself. What a wonderful opportunity! It helps in regaining dignity and self-respect.
