I took out 2 payday loans 4 years ago, needless to say I had an issue with my funds and when it came time to debit my account for the funds, it was not available. After 3 1/2 years I get a call from a lady claiming to have me arrested that day, if I did not pay within the next few hours. I told her I did not have because I am on unemployment and they should have contacted me earlier in the year. She said they were sending me letters at an address I have not lived at in over 3 years, but found my cell number that is not in my name.
I told her I tried to contact the lender which was Power Funding Inc but I could not find any information on them.
Can I get arrested for not paying a loan, I did make a 50.00 payment that day.
But I cannot afford to pay 155.00 for 4 weeks when my unemployment is only 182.00 weekly, I have my rent to pay.

i would try to cancel the payment,or stop it as this is a scam of the highest order.alot of scams use the jail threat to get money out of people.bottom line this person broke the law in threatening you like that.you can't and won't go to jail for owing a pdl.do not give these crminals another dime if you can't get the 50.00 reversed or returned.just know that the person who called you is a pig who should be in jail themselves.file a police report for the call, and AG as well as FTC complaints.after that when she calls again hang up in her face as that is what she deserves.

No, absolutely not. They have threatened you, which is a Fair Debt Collections Practices Act violation. You should immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Can you tell the name of the loan companies, and the state you are in? Payday lending is not legal in all of the states.
