I just received this email from someone from Mary Summers and Associates, located in Georgia. I live in North Carolina and I know that these types of loan companies are illegal in my state, but can they actually file and can I be served a summons from these people or any other out of state law firm? below is copy of email sent to me from this company. Will this nightmare ever end? every time it all seems to settle down and these PDL companies leave me alone, then one of them will try to start scaring me again.

This is a communication with a debt collector. All information provided will be used to collect this debt.
well after receiving my email that I started this thread with, I have just now received a letter from Account Control Systems, Inc. located in NJ. attempting to collect the same debt. How can the original lender attempt to collect debt and use 2 different companies, in 2 different states, to help them with a collection? These people are all over the place, but never from my own state of NC. This newest letter is giving me 30 days to to dispute the validity and are saying that they will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of judgement and mail me a copy of such judgement or verification. Should I even bother responding to them?? I dont trust these people either and I feel like that if I respond in writing like they are asking me to, that they will do something sneaky..

I would simply respond that your state's laws prevail in these matters and payday lending is prohibited in the state of NC.

Have you repaid the principal? If so, I'd point that out as well and let them know they won't be getting another penny from you. If you haven't, offer up a payment arrangement to pay off the remaining balance (via money order or pre-paid debit card).

I would also file a complaint against CMG with the NC Attorney General's office, the NC Commissioner of Banks and the FTC.

I would also file a complaint against this "law firm" with the NC AG and the FTC and include a copy of the notice they sent to you.

They're breaking the law as well.

Don't let their aggressive scare tactics work on you. Arm yourself with information and tell them they can stick it :)

in response to your question Knee_Deep...

these other states seem to disregard the fact that these loans are illegal in NC and after they robbed me of my hard earned money and left me completely broke, if I tell them that it is illegal in NC, they always say that they do not have to abide by my state's laws. I have reported most to my state's AG office, but they 2 companies that seem to keep bothering me are NationwideCash and CMG group, and they are going thru many different other companies using them to scare me into paying them more.

keep filing AG complaints against anybody who contacts you about these loans.do that knowing that these places can do nothing but harrass, file the complaints and do not engage them.a waste of your time.btw nice answer to knee deep.illegals don't care about anything but bilking a person out of their money.if they did care they wouldn't be lending in the first place.
