Interim Cash nightmare
Date: Mon, 04/16/2007 - 16:19
Interim cash started calling my former employer last week in regards to a loan I had with them. I took out $200. I paid them almost $500 back. I got divorced and had no money. I closed my account as I couldn't afford the fees anymore and couldn't pay it off.
My former secretary called me and told me they were looking for me. She did not give them my contact information. They told her I was under fraud investigation for many outstanding loans. I volantarily called them back on my cell phone and made the mistake of giving them my current work phone number.
They are saying I owe $1,800 but they will settle for $950--I don't think so. Anyway, I told them I wanted to look into this further. They demanded that I give them my current bank account information, I said no. They demanded to talk to my current supervisor--I said what for? I told them I had to go and the guy told me that he promised me if I hung up he would continue calling and call my former employer as well. These people have broken so many laws it's not even funny.
Anyway, they called my former employer today over 15 times, as promised. The Vice President of the company walked past my former secretary as this was going on and got on the phone. He told them to look online for my contact information (meanwhile, they already have it!). They called back and he answered the phone personally 5 times. They finally stopped calling. I'm sure tomorrow will lead to more calls. I sent complaints to the BBB and sent a cease and desist letter to their customer service e-mail address, which I received a received receipt on.
What else can I do? These people are ruthless and break the law continuously. Since they are in a foregin country, they can do so.

First and foremost..dont pay them another penny! Secondly what state are you in?
Now file complaints with your AG, and the FTC
You are not under investigation for fraud and you will not be arrested. Chances are you have paid this loan in full but Ineed to know what state you are n so I can give you the proper advice

Rocksteady, hang in there. I dealt with Interim a year and a half ago, and I assure you, their bark is much, much worse than their bite.
About a year ago a poster was on here who worked for Interim. They explained that they were just trying to make a profit of $350 from every customer, and that they expect everyone to default, since their terms are so outrageous. I'm going to see if I can't find a link to that old thread.
Definitely DO NOT pay them another dime. You've paid enough, and they are illegal as hell. The cease and desist should work, it worked for me. Don't listen to them when they tell you that they don't have to follow US laws, they are full of wind. Eventually, they do quit, I promise you.
PA does have a loophole in their laws that allows companies lice
PA does have a loophole in their laws that allows companies licensed in other states to lend to their consumers over the internet. But odds are, Interim Cash is not licensed to do business legally anywhere!
Since they most likely aren't licensed anywhere in the US, they can't do anything to "collect" on this debt. They can't have you arrested, they can't garnish your wages, and they can't sue you. The only thing they will do is harass you, your employer, and anyone else they have contact info for. It may be a good idea to tell your employer that this illegal company is trying to scare you out of money.
A lot of times with these foreign pdl companies, the best you can get is for them to leave you alone. I went through a similar situation with rt 66 (another foreign pdl), they called my place of employment 15 - 20 times a day, for about 2 months, even though each time they were told I didn't work there. Finally, my company had to file harassment charges. The receptionist told them that the next time they called, and the calls finally stopped.
You can file the complaints and send them letters. For sure don't give them anymore contact info or banking info. You also will want to revoke any wage assignments you may have signed. At least you already have the bank account they have info on closed.
I know their calls can be unnerving, at the least, you could have some fun with them. I would tell them the calls are being recorded, and that they are the one that will be arrested. Be creative, the only "tool" they have to collect is intimidation and harassment, take that away from them!

I had an identical situation with Cash Today 4 U last year, which is also offshore. They called me nonstop at work and threatened to tell my manager. I finally decided that the best defense was a good offense and took my manager aside and told her about it and how she might be called by these lunatics.
I figured out they were offshore when I was getting calls on my work voicemail at 10pm my time.
My manager was great about it and btw was never called by them--AND all calls stopped when I filed a police report after paying them off in full.
They tried to tell me that I owed 1000 off a 250 loan and I basically told them to get stuffed, which is what you should do.
Rocksteady, The first thing you are going to have to do to get
Rocksteady,
The first thing you are going to have to do to get Pa on your side and put some teeth in this thing is to file a complaint with the attorney generals office. They are their to help you, you can do this at this link http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/consumers.aspx?id=451 , complete the online complaint form, print yourself a copy. The next time these jerks call you, let them know you filed the complaint and do not wish to discuss it with them as long as it is under investigation. It will only take the AG's office a week or two to respond.
Second thing is do not give them another dime, you need to let them know that you have paid back more than you should have already, loopholes in Pa or not, you need to stand up to these guys. Don't give them anymore information, such as telephone numbers and etc. Overseas or not they do not have the right to harass you like this.
Do you have any stateside information on them? Do they have an office anywhere here in the US?
Bottom line is, you need to take control of the situation, don't let them waste another minute of your time or take anymore of your money. I will watch you post and try to help you as this progress's. If they call you again, simply tell them that you have filed the complaint with Pa Attorney Generals office and you can not discuss anything with them on this pending investigation.
When you file the complaint, detail the entire situation, about the loan, what you have paid back and especially the harassment and phone calls with slander to your old employer. They will be none to happy about this. Keep us updated.

Last year before I found this forum I was taken for over $800 for a $200 loan with this company! I thought it was perfectly legal for them to do this. I am so upset that I paid them so much money! I defaulted on it and they made me a settlement agreement for another $300 so I took it and it was marked paid in full. Right before I found this forum, I was DESPERATE for money and they actually called and said I was approved for another loan at a discounted rate. Out of desperation I called them back and asked for a loan and they said I wasn't eligible. I was like, why are you calling me then? I am SO thankful that they wouldn't give me another loan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do I revoke wage assignments? Do I even need to do that sin
How do I revoke wage assignments? Do I even need to do that since I work at a different place than I did when I initially took out this loan?
It's always a good idea to revoke just to be on the safe side.
It's always a good idea to revoke just to be on the safe side. All you have to do is send them a certified letter saying "I revoke any and all wage assignments I signed with XX Company". You can keep it short and sweet. Just save a copy of it in case they still try to put one through.
Rocksteady ~ you have some good advice above....just stay strong
Rocksteady ~ you have some good advice above....just stay strong! My husband and I had a loan with Route66 and although they didn't call our place of work all the time, they harrassed the heck out of on my cell phone. I would just let the voice messages go to voice mail and would only communicate with them via email or USPS. That way I had things in writing as to what was said and by whom. Get everything revoked, play it safe. No since taking any chances. It will get better! So many of us have been in your situation and have gotten out of or working our way out from under these things. Keep your chin up and don't let them intimiate you.
Interim distress
I rec'd three calls from Interim at my employer and they are telling me that i owe 1100 on a loan i got for 225.00. they said that i can make 4 installment of 275.00. The wanted my bank account information and told me if I did cont comply they would call employer and try garnish my wages. Can you offer me some advice. I explained to them I work parttime. I live here in florida so any help would be grateful. I will file a complaint with attorney general.
CEASE AND DESIST?
I also have received threatening phone calls in Arkansas from the same Interim Cash foreigners. Please explain the cease and desist and where I might be able to apply for it.
INTERIM CASH
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CURRENT INFO ON THIS COMPANY. I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO MAKE THE PAYMENTS THEY WANT SO I GAVE THEM THE $$ AMT I COULD MAKE WHCIH WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THEM. THEY HAD SAID THEY WOULD BE CALLING MY EMPLOYER AND WHEN I TOLD THEM THEY COULD NOT CALL MY EMPLOYER BECAUSE OF THE FAIR CREDIT COLLECTION ACT THEY STARTED MAKING THREATS AND PROCEEDED TO LET ME KNOW THEY WOULD GET ME FIRED...ANY SUGGESTIONS. THEY LOAN STARTED OUT OVER A YEAR AGO AT APPROX 300.00 AND NOW HAS A BALANCE OF 1200.00....ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I just got a voicemail at work also saying they would contact my supervisor too. Will it really work if I say I have filed harassement charges? And that they have no way to go after me legally since they aren't in the US? I am in Nebraska.
