credit card debt - have a poor credit report

I have a poor credit report from all bureaus but was wondering if you could help me with one in particular-Bank of America Visa. They will not settle on payments and want a lump sum which I cannot pay right now. I want to cancel out card but they won't stop interest rates on card or cancel out until I pay. Can they do this?

I would seriously consider debt consolidation. I signed up here for counseling and then after speaking with the counselor, I signed up for a debt consolidation. We are 15K in debt and I expect to be debt free in three years! I am so happy we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Actually I plan to be debt free in fewer than three years.... any extra money we get is going toward our financial freedom!

Welcome to the forums. As ttthayden suggested, debt consolidation will be a very wise decision during such crucial situations from which you are going through.

You should take expert advice from the consultants and know your repayment options. I am sure that you will be relieved from much of the stress that you are going through and achieve a debt free life.
