My new job--I rock.

Ok, I started work for Priceline in their travel sales department in mid June....It's all telephone, inbound sales..It's all good fun.

So we have this bonus incentive program every month...You have to have at least 15% of your vacation calls, and 20% of your hotel calls result in a sale. It sounds easy, but you also have to take calls from people that are like, "Well....I'm thinking of taking a trip to Jamaica next year...But I don't know what date. What do you mean that prices are based on availability and you can't give me a price without knowing when I want to go? What do you mean the price can change at any time? I have to PAY for the trip immediately? Why can't I pay for it when I get to Jamaica?" You get the picture.

And we get the occasional person who didn't want to wait in line for customer service to ask a question about their credit card statement so they push the button to go to sales...And we then have to transfer them to the customer service line because we are the SALES department..

BUT...Here's the cool part. I MADE MY GOAL FOR THE MONTH! YAY! My first month, and I bonused. Yipee! If we hit our percentage goals, we get paid bonus on all of our sales for the month. So I made an extra $175 which will be on my paycheck on Weds.

Another good thing...We have this sales board on the wall where we all place our sales. We have this sweet lady named Genevieve who's been working there for-EVER and is trained in everything..So she is on the "high priority" gate of our phone system, so she gets more calls than us new people-and resulting with more sales as well...She's always number one. She was off yesterday and had 44 sales for the week. Yesterday was the end of week one of this month, and I finished out with 45sales. WOO HOO! I beat the queen of sales..Yes, it was just by ONE sale...But I don't care, I still rock. This girl Sarah who sits next to the board saw my goofy smile on my face when I was walking over there last night and she said, "Don't EVEN think about putting your sales up there today because I've heard you over there making sales and you're making me look really bad because your name is above mine.." LOL

If I keep up at this pace, then I will more than double my sales for last month...As long as the nonsense calls are at a minimum, I'll have a nice fat incentive paycheck next month too. Yippee! :)
