Just a question..

Every so often a poster comes along who loves to insult all of us here. It creates all kinds of drama, and then that person ends up posting all over the board and destroying helpful threads. I know that if I was a new person, I would be completely turned off by these insults. It's an ongoing problem here, and it really ends up killing morale. This place is about helping each other out, but we end up defending ourselves to these people.

My question is this..Can these negative posts be deleted? I'm really tired of seeing them. In the past I've defended myself and others to them, but I made a committment today not to acknowledge them anymore. I can't even express how sick and tired I am of having to wade through BS from these people to read something pertinent. Imagine how new people feel? How are they supposed to find the answer to their question if they have to sift through two pages of insults?

Anyway, I guess I'm just ranting. I will no longer answer a thread that has this kind of junk in it, and I truly think it would simply be best to get rid of these posts when they occur.

Ari,
That's great news about your job! I've worked in Call Centers too and I remember reading an article calling them electronic plantations and thinking how true, how true!! Any place where management can tell how much time you literally spend in the bathroom is not a place I want to spend my time! And I won't even get into the issue of being monitored!! The stories we could tell, lol...

I honestly don't think these messages should be deleted. Unless vulgar language is used, or some personal information is leaked, then the message/comment should remain. The mods can simply LOCK that particular thread.

If for some reason, something needs to be done later because of threats, the thread can remain so the IP can be tracked.

Thoughts? Other suggestions?

Spam of course, will be deleted on the spot!

Regards
Mike

Hi

Specific IPs of some posters is already blocked in this forum since the past. On the other end, it is very easy for them to get a different IP from their service provider and start posting again.

Everyone, if you see anyone defaming people on a regular note, please PM me or Vikas about this. We will block that poster immediately.

Regards
Mike

I apologize I haven't been more active in the community. I'm starting to spend more time around, so I'm sure I'll be catching the inflamatory postings.
Mikey, this mod here deleted an entire offensive thread! How's that for being on the lookout?
Ari, I challenge you. I'll delete the vulgar postings before you.

Community members must also remember, though, that everyone has a right to free speech. But there is a line somewhere, and we'll make sure it's not crossed.

Also, Mike, I first asked what happened to the IP tracking probably back in February, and you said there were technical difficulties. Will the MODS ever get access to that back?

Regards
Mike

Hi Mikey

IP detection is working and presently available to the site admin only. The forum is growing bigger and new mods will be added in the future. To ensure personal safety of the members, we thought of keeping the site admin accountable for it instead of dividing it among few. Isn't that fair, Mikey

Mike
