It's been a really BAD 26 hours. I was on the forum yesterday and my mom came up(she lives with us) and said she needed to go to the hospital. Let me tell you why.About 3 days ago she started telling me she was really dizzy and lightheaded. That's not real unusual for her because of her congestive heart failure.Well, 2 more days pass, now it's Saturday.I asked her if maybe she was taking her night meds twice, maybe. She said no,the only thing different was the refill she had picked up 3 days ago.To make a long story kinda short-she was suppossed to take 10 mg. of this drug-the pharmacy f***ed up,excuse me,but I'm MAD-and gave her 100 mg.So she had 300 mg.in three days instead of 30mg.Took her to ER,she had a mild heart infarction, heart attack? Put shock pads on her,and was in ER for 7 hours. SHe's still in hospital-not looking good, although she feels better than when she came in.So please,my community family say a prayer.I won't be on tomorrow, goona have my 2 abcessed teeth pulled  does it ever stop?!..Karen

I'm sorry for what is happening to your mother. Have you contacted the pharmacy about their mistake. Seems they are making these frequently. Those babies in that one state are dying because the pharmacy mislabelled their medications and they were given adult doses. I will pray for you and your mom.

Karen,

You have been so supportive during my mom's illness over the last couple of months. I'm so sorry to hear that your mom is now in the hospital too. Of course, I will say a prayer for her and for you. Remember to take care of yourself as well. It doesn't surprise me that the pharmacy screwed up like that. I hate to say it but it happened to a guy I work with a few weeks ago. They gave him the wrong medicine for his high blood pressure. He wound up getting nose bleeds at work and got really sick. It may not hurt to talk to a lawyer about this. Mistakes like this are inexcusable because this is people's lives. I'm here if you need to talk. Love ya!

Karen--I'll keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers. Stupid pharmacy. You know they have to take classes to be a pharmacist...Some good that does. *puke*

(Not saying all pharmacists are morons, but it seems like too many of them are.)

And good luck tomorrow with your dentist. Take it easy after too..If you overdo it, you'll get very sore.

Love ya.

Thanks so much you guys! Well, an update. My mom got released yesterday from the hospital, she's still kinda disoriented, hope that clears up.But the med she was taking for her diabetic neuropathy also has something in it that is a mood elevator,so now her thinking and everything has been short circuited, according to the Dr. Also, today is her 74th birthday-what a happy birthday, huh! Got my teeth pulled, still hurts like heck. Also the BIG news-we thought she had only taken 3 tabs of this wrong med, but,I counted the pills in the bottle, and she had taken them for 7 day instead of three. So she had 700mg.over 7 days, instead of 70mg. So,I don't know where we are going with this happening yet,I want her to go back in to her Dr.,I want everything documented,so when we feel better,we can make a decision. Thanks so much to my community family for your support and prayers :D ...Karen

Karen,

Hugs to you and your mom! I'm glad to hear that she at least got released from the hospital. I'm sorry to hear that the dosage was even worse than you first thought. She should visit with her regular doctor and you guys can go from there. It's really sad that this happened to her. Happy Birthday to her! I hope you are feeling better soon too. Dentist visits are rarely fun. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself !

Thanks Dbaker and Mishele :D It worries me about her mental condition, but,I guess with that massive dose it may take time. Gonna call the Dr. tomorrow, couldn't today,I felt worse today and mouth looks like someone punched me! I am so gratefull to my "community family",you all have no idea how much you have helped and supported me. My family,on moms and dads side, are all gone.I lost 3 in one year, including my dad,and 12 within 3 years,so I really don't have anyone except my mom and brother-and he's about as useless as ti*s on a boar hog  ...Karen

Well, I'm from Florida..I've only lived up north for 11 yrs, so maybe it's a regional thing? I have a good friend from Oklahoma, he says some similar stuff too.

I drive my husband crazy sometimes..I say Utility room, he says mud room. I say soda, he says pop. The one he hates the worst, though, is doorwall. That drives him insane..He calls it a slider.

Karen--Your mouth will hurt for a few days. Did it bruise your face at all? Sometimes it can. I've heard that salt water is supposed to help the soreness, but that could be a lie...

The word that's always driven me nuts---Davenport. My grandma always called the couch the davenport. I don't mind sofa...But Davenport was a specific company that made couches....Our's was made by Thomasville. TOTALLY different company.

And she always ragged on me for sitting all "whopperjawed."

Thanks,JJ! The pharmacist called and left a message on my cell and was supposed to call me today to "discuss the situation",but haven't heard from him yet.He is also the owner of the pharmacy. At the least,I'll see what he says,or offers. But I am going to talk to an attorney, just to see what my options are...KAren

Karen,

It is good that you are keeping a sense of humor through everything right now. Most of the time, I take myself way too seriously. It's not a healthy thing. What's wrong with saying, T*ts on a boar hog? I grew up saying that. I never said soda until I met my ex and he was from the west coast. Now it bothers me when people say pop. Go figure! I know that salt water mixture. Yuck! I've been down that road too my friend so take it easy. Dental work is not fun

Karen,

Did you ever call him back? The great thing about this forum is the courage and comfort that we get from each other. I've learned that after dealing with payday lenders, I can handle just about anything that pops up. I think there's a few nurses at the hospital where my mom was at that won't drag their feet anymore when people are in pain. Sheesh! The majority of them were great but mom also said these two cackled like hens instead of taking care of the patients on the floor.

Thanks Mishele-teeth are better today, not as sore.I know what you mean about hospitals, most of the nurses were great, but this one group were idiots. I told the nurse my mom was having more heart palpatations and a litle discomfort, mind you she just had a heart attact, and the nurse stayed seated and said, her heart sounds ok to me,and so did her pulse.I told her,I took her vital signs before I took her to the hospital, too, but she was still having a heart attck! Yeah,I called him back-no answer. He may have talked to his Insurance company,or attorney ,and they told him not to call. That's ok, I am going to call him at work tomorrow,I can catch him then. Know what you mean about not going through something alone, this site, and the people have been really awsome in their support...Karen
