Ok...I'll admit to my share of mistakes, I'll own up to any error, lapse in judgement, stupidity on my part, etc., but I'm getting a little tired of the crapstorm I'm dealing with lately!

I'm working my way through the PDL mess. I am paying off other debts. I purchased a home in Feb. 2006, which allowed my kids and I to move out of my parents' nasty ol' basement. Teenage son decided to come back to live with me after 3 years living 4 states away with his dad. Life should be good, right?!?

I noticed a little trickle of water across my basement floor last week, and my sump pump crock is filling at a rate of a full crock an hour. We're not talking a finished basement here - just what we call a "Michigan basement" - meaning it's a simple concrete floor and cinderblock walls, and is prone to the occasional leak when heavy rain occurs. No big deal, I knew it when I bought the house. I also knew the house had a slightly sloping floor, due to it being an older house and having settled. Now...9 months later...(huh, the same amount of time it takes to have a baby, imagine that)..the house is "giving birth" to all sorts of problems. The sloping floor seems to be growing worse, which TWO contractors assured me when I bought the house that it most likely wouldn't. The water coming in appears to be from the drain tile outside the house, because it's nowhere near any water pipes - either mine or the city's water/sewer lines. And to top it off, THREE CRACKS HAVE APPEARED IN THE WALLS BOTH UPSTAIRS AND ON THE MAIN FLOOR OF THE HOUSE!

I have a contractor coming tonight to check the situation out with the water in the basement, and I will discuss with him the theory I have in mind about the house settling further, rather suddenly, and causing the stress cracks in the walls and possibly crushing the drain tile, causing the water in the basement.

Sorry for the rant folks, I just had to vent. I'm SO ticked. You finally think you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and it turns out to be an oncoming train! I bought this house, not because it was my dream home in the perfect location, but because it was what I could afford. It's no palace, and I knew it would have minor problems from time to time, but the disclosures stated "no structural problems". I'm going to look into suing the seller, who was also the real estate agent, who was also working with the broker who pressured me into buying this house and basically screwed me out of the house I wanted by not giving me all the facts on how the mortgage program I was going to be in worked, and I lost the house to someone else while she farted around with the details.
 :x    :x

Whew.....sorry again...thanks for letting me rant!

Suebeehoney, Go ahead and rant I dont blame you I kind of was in a mess myself over the weekend. I dont have a functioning kitxhen. Hopefully the disclosure statement will hold up and you can make them pay for repairs. KYSIDE38

Well, the contractor just left, but I don't feel much better! He's not at all sure where the water is coming from. He stated the obvious - it's definitely coming through the wall, and is not related to any of the water lines or pipes in the house. He's going to come back tomorrow when it's light outside and check out the outside of the house and let me know what he finds there. I hope we can come up with a solution here. I'm very frustrated. I'm definitely going back to my disclosure statement to see what all was marked, but I know I distinctly remember them marking "no known problems" regarding the structure and foundation - even though the house had already obviously settled and the floor had some slope to it because of that.
