precollection notice?
when you recieve a precollection notice you as a cosumer have thirty days to send out a cease and desist. this allows you to deal with the original creditor about the unpaid debt. and the collection company cannot attempt to collect on that debt. this is a consumer right there are still some left.

That's assuming the original creditor still has your account.,that you can work with them. Alot of them sell them to junk debt buyers and then you get to try to work with them, which,in most cases is impossible. You do have 30 days to respond and ask for validation, but in alot of cases, you won't get one...Karen

That is also true...depending on who you are working with and if it is with a collection agency..
clarification
(precollection notice is a collection notice from the first collection company that is notified of your default from the orginal creditor) therefore you will receive a notice within 45 days from the original creditor attempting to collect the debt. after the 30 days you are in the hands of the collector. unless you are able to contact the original creditor and persuade them to settle the debt with them and in writing to accept settlement. in turn you contact the 3 major credit agency and have them varify the debt with the original creditor. (at this point you know the debt is paid and have proof). and for the recrd they re all collection agencies when they start ask you to pay a debt.
junk debt buyers
if you have any debt always send a fax 3 times stating varification of debt. this will weed out all the garbage and find out if they have or do not have your name social and address. if they do not varify this it is time to contact the big three. experian tran union equifax and via certified letter to review a free consumer report. then dispute that junk debt on the report telling them to varify that debt. then demand it to come off if it's updated as varified because as you already know it is unvarifiable under legal stature.

I'm not sure if this directed towards me but I have mailed a DV letter to the law firm handling the account. I know the thirty days response time per the fdcpa guidelines.
