has anyone ever had a dental implant, where a anchor (titanium rod) is screwed into your bone and a fake tooth attached? If so what kind of luck did you have, cost effective, how was the procedure on a pain level, any input would be appreciated.

my husband has them on his 3 front teeth. He had a bridge/cap and it cracked down. I will say that it was not the most pleasant thing - he had to go back and be numbed each time work was done. I think it took about 6 months, cuz they have to do a bone graft type of thing to build it up (this may be because it was his front teeth tho) he had a temp in place. Then he got his final one, and I will admit it looks great. He was a little uncomfortable at times (ibuprofen) but not horrible. It is'nt cheap (still paying the payments of about $6000 for 4 teeth...but it should last for many many years. He says it was all worth it. I didn't want to candy coat it, but if I was in the same position, I would prob do the same thing. one word of advice - DO YOUR HOMEWORK on the dentist. The first one we went to was less money, but wasn't going to build the bone up - which seemed pretty darn important to us as you are biting into things w your front teeth. So really find out what the dentist plans are all the way through. I'd be happy to help with any other info if I can. If you are in the CHgo are - I could recommend the dentist. Good Luck!!
