In 1871, lucky strike, the first manufactured cigoutlet and now one of the world's best-known brands, was introduced. In 1917 the slogan "It's Toasted" was used. The slogan simply described the manufacturing process in which the tobacco is toasted rather than sun dried, which substantially affects the flavor. Also the message "L.S./M.F.T." (Lucky Strike means fine tobacco) was introduced on the package. The pack was changed from green to white in 1942. In a famous advertising campaign that used the slogan "Lucky Strike Green has gone to war," the company claimed the change was made because the copper used in the green color was needed for World War II. American Tobacco actually used chromium to produce the green ink, and copper to produce the gold-colored trim. A limited supply of each was available, and substitute materials made the package look drab. As a result, the white package was introduced, not to help the war effort as claimed, but to lower costs and to increase the appeal of their packaging among fe
male smokers. Lucky Strike is a hugely popular cigarette in Europe, even though its popularity in the USA has waned in recent years. In 1978 and 1994, export rights and U.S. rights were purchased by Brown & Williamson. In 1996, filtered styles were launched in San Francisco, but it was not until 1999 that they were available all over the United States. This cigarette is made with Turkish tobaccos.

I am not a smoker, Steelers, but I agree that you have no rights. I think it's horrid to potentially lose a job you've had for 20 yrs because you smoke. Hell, even I have been known to smoke one or two while in a bar. It's never affected my running, how could it affect anyone's job? Yes, I know the long-term affects; My Dad died of lung cancer 2 years ago. But it's each persons right to decide what they want to do.

Lol, you got me going Steelers!

Yes, even that is illegal here, and you're technically not even allowed to smoke in your own damn freaking house that you pay the damn freaking mortgage on!!!!!!!!! OMG! HERE I GO!!!!

Hmmmmm...Maybe this is off topic, but here's something I know about. Football history.

Ladanian Tomlinson broke a record this past year...Most points scored by a running back. He had broken the record previously held by Paul Hornung of the Green Bay Packers, 1958-1966. The thing is, though..LT took 16 games to break a record that Hornung, the Golden Boy, set in just 12. PLUS- Hornung kicked all of his extra points, and LT is getting credit for points he really didn't score. Sooooo...Mr. Hornung still holds the record.

Steelers, I am seriously working on that NFL history book now. It will be called "take it like a man"

It is nobody's business. I could put some more stuff out here that would really scare the crap out of people. And they aren't conspiracy theories, they are what is coming, but I won't. I do not like the Harper Valley PTA mother's of America telling me what I should or should not be doing, I do a hell of alot more than they do, pay a hell of alot more taxes than they do, but yet it is a certain group of people who feel they know what is best for everyone else. I need to stop, or else I will go on and on.....And please, all of you PTA people, I don't really care to hear it, when you raise 2 severly disabled children on your own, put yourself through college, pay for a house and everything else on your own, then I will be all ears to your comments.

Isn't it odd - here in Cleveland - you cannot smoke anywhere, but the taxes that have been placed on smokers have built a sports stadium and now have been raised again to support the arts! The places that we smokers are not allowed to smoke in are the places that we are supporting! And another thing - I would like to quit smoking, but the meds that the doctor prescribed for me are not covered by my health insurance they are considered non essential! The insurance company would rather treat lung cancer thatn the less expensive smoking sessation meds! No I will get off my soap box - thank you very much!

OK I am weighing in on this one.. I think that the government needs to get their nose out of my house and car.. I kind of understand the restaurant and bar thing.. BUT I buy a piece of land with my money and I build a restaurant with my money and I put up a sign saying smoking allowed.. then a non smoker has the right not to step on MY property..
K off the soap box.. Just hate that my home has become the governments business???????

Don't usually get into politcal stuff, but the country is getting to where you can't even go to the bathroom without the goverment telling you what type of toilet paper to use and how much!

We have people in goverment telling us how to raise our kids and what they need to learn in school, etc. Most kids now a days have no respect for adults and are not afraid of their parents because they cannot be yelled at or spanked...everything is time out. I grew up having my butt spanked many times and I tell you what, I have more respect for my parents then kids do today. When my mom or dad, especially my dad, said jump, I asked how high. I had responsibility and was required to help when asked. A lot of kids today have things handed to them and do not know the value of things and to be honest, I don't think they are really prepared to go out into the world. Kids are graduting school without knowing how to read or write well or do simple math. But the government says the schools have to teach tons of other things besides making sure these kids can read and write and do math.

I just feel the government is trying to contral every aspect of our lives.

Done now....sorry, some things I can get fired up about and have to stop myself.
