Can I afford a new car?

Thanks for this wonderful community.
I got discharge on Feb 2009 and since then I???m trying to put my life back on the track. Recently I got a job too. So, things have started taking positive turns. :) Anyway, I was wondering??? can I afford a new car especially with bankruptcy in my record? Any suggestion would be helpful.

Without knowing your income and current expenses, we have no way of knowing if you can afford it. You will pay thru the nose in interest due to the recent bankruptcy. Do you really need a new car now?? Or just want one?

I agree a recent bankruptcy will disqualify you from any legit car dealer. Now if you are impatient and go to a car lot then that is where you will get into trouble. They will charge you a crazy interest rate and your payment will never end BE CAREFUL. IMO, I would just tough it out and repair your credit untill you save enough for a nice downpayment on a new ride ;)

just my opinion even if you can afford one, i dont see why you should. honestly there are some great deals on some used ones right now scince the economy took a crap people were unloading them pretty quick to get rid of that payment. in my experience you never know whats gonna happen then your stuck with a payment. i will never finance a vehicle ever again. cash only all the way for me! if i dont have it i dont get it.

Hey, my score is not much, something around mid 600 but I can have my mother sign as a co-signer for the car loan. All I need is a shiny new car. Can I afford one? What do you guys say? Shall I go for it??

honestly if you need a co-signer i would say no, just a scenerio
honestly if you need a co-signer i would say no, just a scenerio you loose your job and cant make the payment, are you gonna be ok with your moms score tanking when they start to come after her? or repossess it? just throwing that out there, but we dont know your financial situation
