Hi guys!!!

Thursday is Thanksgiving..Can you believe it? Where has the time gone?

It's going to be an incredibly busy week for me, so I have to get all emotional right now...

I have to count all the things I'm thankful for..I'm thankful for my health, and the fun I have. I'm thankful for my husband and son, and the rest of my family. I'm very thankful for this site...Last year at this time I was in a terrible spot, I can't believe I'm the same person. This place and the people here helped pull me out of it, and I'm soooo thankful.

I've made some really close personal friends here, people I talk to off the board, and I truly love them. Also, I'm making new friends here all the time..I'm really really thankful for everyone here and what we all do for each other.

Have a happy Thanksgiving, I love the Holidays more than anything, this is going to be such a fun time!!

My 82 year old Mom lives with me and she is cooking Thanksgiving as she has since I was a little girl(a very long time ago) She still makes everything from scratch including pies, stuffing, and all that goes with it. She may be a little slower now but the food is as good as it has always been and as I watch Her with all her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren I remember growing up with this beautiful woman always being there for us all and it makes me miss My Dad even more because his family was the most important thing in his life.

So Have a wonderful hoiday everyone and if you are able to be with people you love embrace the time you can spend with them and if you're far away from loved ones call and tell them you love them.

I got so emotional about family I forgot about food.
I'll bring a great avocado salad, deviled eggs and cranberry sauce

Well, I have what is actually an Easter bread that I make, but my daughter, all but one son, and my sisters love it, so I'll bring that to my daughter's (she's having Thanksgiving this year). It's called Houska. It's a yeast bread with almonds and golden raisins. And, of course, to go with it, I'll be bringing the coffee, too.

Sam62, I agree with you - enjoy your family and call the ones who can't be with you. Mine is dwindling every year, and I am very thankful for the two sisters I have left as well as my children, grandchildren and wonderful friends. I am also thankful for this site and all the wonderful people I've met here. Happy Thanksgiving!

I have an absolutely delectable family recipe for cranberry that I will be making to bring to dinner, I got an invite to join one of my coworkers and her family. This cranberry is made on the stove with fresh cranberries, apples, oranges, walnuts, raisins, honey, nutmeg, and cinnamon and it has been my favorite side dish ever since I first tasted it.

My cranberry dish is my dad's recipe passed down through the family. I think it might be a Canadian recipe because that's where his roots lie.

By the way, Frank and I are all moved in to our new house! Four bedrooms, two baths, cathedral ceilings, walk-in closets, two car garage, and a great room! I feel like a real Southern Belle in such a big house in such a nice neighborhood!

Missy loves the house! She made herself right at home as soon as I took her home and let her out of her carrier. She loves the big comfy couches Frank bought for us, and the big windowsills.

Here's the recipe for the cranberry, it is sugar free, very healthy and very tasty:

1 bag fresh cranberries
2 green apples peeled and chopped
2 oranges peeled and chopped
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup water

simmer all ingredients together on medium heat until all the cranberries have burst, thus coloring all the constituents red. This is good both hot and cold.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Thursday will be my first full day off in about 2 months, no WORK at all. so I will be sleeping and watching the Macy's Day Parard. My family and I went to it back in the 80's, OMG it was so darn cold, once in a lifetime was enough for me. Oh yeah I will be interested to know if anyone gets collection calls on Thanksgiving Day.

I have my parents, my brother, his wife and 2 kids, and myself and my 2 boys all at my house for Thanksgiving this year - not to mention our 2 dogs, who will make an absolute nuisance of themselves trying to get table scraps! I'm going to try and take Wednesday off, just to get ready! We're having:

Turkey
Mom's special stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
My candied yams
Green bean casserole
Greens of some sort, not sure what yet
Cranberry sauce (Ari - yours sounds great!)
Salads
Relish Tray
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie
Cheesecake
Pineapple Upside Down Cake

And ROLAIDS! LOL

We are going to my grandparents house for Thanksgiving and grandma always makes each one of us our favorite dish. She has done this as far back as I can remember. Then there is no cooking for the weekend, because of all the leftovers. Put the left overs in the microwave and each Thanksgiving dinner all weekend.

So is everybody ready? Turkey Day is only two days away. Are everyone's turkeys thawed? I talked to my daughter yesterday. Eric just got their turkey yesterday, so hopefully it'll be thawed out in time. Wish me luck in making my first pumpkin cheesecake. I need to find a springform pan, whatever that is (I guess I'm showing I'm not much of a baker (no pun intended!). I'll let you know how it turns out.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for. Be safe.

I have SO much to be thankful for....

-my wonderful kids
-my great family
-my home (be it ever so humble and in need of repair-LOL)
-my faith
-my job (in a state where so many have lost theirs)
-my sense of humor (which serves me well in hard times)

and so much more than I can list here! (Of course the above list is not in any particular order!)

Everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving, and remember to give thanks for the GOOD stuff and forget the BAD stuff...even if only for one day. Give yourself a well-earned break from the worry and stress. I'm off from work tomorrow to get ready for our family gathering here!

Just wanted to tell everyone to have a nice Thanksgiving. Ours isn't starting out too good. My husband and my son we on their way to hunt this morning around 5:30am and two cars were drag racing and one of the cars forced him off the road and he hit a light pole. Thank goodness they are both okay. My little boy hit the dashboard and he has a goose egg and a bruise and my hubby has a gash on his forehead and top of the head from where he hit the windshield, a large bruise from where the four wheeler came through the back glass and hit him. Both of them are very sore and cranky tonight, but I just thankful they are alive. The truck is totaled of course and the police had to label it a hit and run because the vehicle that forced him off the road can't be found. And being we only had liability on the truck, the insurance won't be paying for a new one. We had to get another truck which means another payment. But atleast I will have my whole family this weekend.
