I have been reading a lot of different articles lately about consumer fraud. One of the things I have noticed the past few years is during the holidays an increase in complaints from guests and other members who are scared out of their minds because they are receiving threatening phone calls from people using fake names, (especially people who had previous Internet payday loans), being threatened with summons, jail, being served by a process server at their place of employment, etc.

I think collection agencies and scammers are trying to break a record this year because more so than in past years I have noticed a HUGE increase of complaints. Has anyone else noticed this, this year?

Absolutely! These creeps have been calling home and work both a lot this month. I even had one of them steal my identity and impersonate me on Dec 14th with an ambulance company. I received a phone call today regarding my corporate credit card that fraudulent charges started appearing yesterday. Right now I can't prove that it was them, but the timing with Dec 14th looks pretty obvious. I hope something can be done because they charged to net flicks in CA and Bills Reels.com. The bank is filing a fraud report for me to sign and reversing the charges. But this still doesn't help me feel any better. Then when I read posts on this site that people are getting calls from collection agencies regarding payday loans they never took out, I don't know when this nightmare is going to end. I've filed out all of the necessary reports but again, no comfort in that. I wait for the next shoe to drop and that's no way to live!!
