After being up at the cabin for 4 days :) and decorating it for Christmas I was wondering how you all decorate for the holiday? Do you go all out, or is it just simple and cozy? Do you have a real tree or do you have a fake one?

I have a fake tree at the cabin, it is pretty and fit up there real well. I have orniments on there that are all animals like deer, bears, moose, chipmunks, anything you find in the woods. Plus a bunch of bulbs that range from 50+ years old to some that I bought from the dollar store. I have candy canes and garland on it ( I love the tinsel, the stringy stuff that takes forever to put on but that is not pet friendly lol) Then I have stockings hung up and of course I have a santa hat on the deer mount lol. I just got some little stockings (for the kittys) and hung those up on the electric stove. I have a few pics. that I took and I will post them in a bit.

I would love to know how you all decorate.

Puddl- how pretty!! I love real trees, but I can't have one because of allergies and asthma!

We have a fake one- ought to be real for the cost  decorate it with old bulbs, some over 80 years old, and new ones too.

When the boys were young, I decorated the whole house inside and out. I probably have 15 boxes of Christmas deco in the attic-quit doing alot of decorating after sons got grown- but love Christmas!!..karen

 lmao Karen. I would have loved to see that one

Volley I will be sure to take a pic of that when I put it on the jackalope lol. He's gonna hate me lol But if it is hanging on my wall it's fair game for decorating lol. I will take a pic. of the kittys stockings also. But I won't be going until this weekend so your gonna have to wait :P lol

We're doing minimal decorating this year (which is KILLING me...I love to do Christmas up BIG!)...as we are moving in a month and a half, the last thing I want to do is have MORE to pack back up after the holiday before we move. In the interest of keeping our move as simple as possible, we're going to just put up our tree and decorate it.

We went this past weekend to cut down our tree...It was quite a trip...and it looked a lot smaller in the field....we had a time putting it on the suv and it dwarfed the vehicle. Then we were driving down the highway and it fell off!!!! We had to go in the middle of a 4 lane highway and put it back on...I swear we looked like Family Vacation. My ornaments range from ones that hung on my grandma's tree to stuff that was given to us last year. My parents have given me a Christmas tree onrnament every year since birth..and when I married, hubby was included and when I had children, they were included. I gave the two older boys their ornaments last year to start their own traditions.

Well I just found out that I am not going to the cabin this weekend  Hubby and daughter have to work. But I am still going to pick up the hat  I will post the pic. as soon as I get it. Probably the following weekend. So I will probably put up my tree here this weekend and start making my Christmas candy.

Puddle, laugh all you want  We did and it was too funny. IT was even funnier when we went to the hardware store in this little town to buy rope since the bungee cords broke. And while we were putting the tree back on the car, one of my employees rolled up and here I was in my weekend attire with my hair crazy and pine needles everyhwere...Got to meeet his wife for the first time  BUt atleast my son and the rest of us will have good memories of that day. We let him cut the tree down with a tree saw...that was funny too....And the tree is probably the prettiest most perfectly shaped tree we have ever had. If I can ever figure out how to use my camera, I will post it.

My kids bought me a new tree about 3 years ago...it is a little smaller than the huge one we had when they lived at home...but the best part is it's pre-lit so I don't have to fight the light strings anymore!! I gave the big one to my son last weekend with all the lights I didn't need. All my ornaments are wooden toys or trinkets we have picked up over the years and also all the things my kids made while in school.I also use candy canes and gold garland. 2 years ago I started letting each of them choose an ornament from the tree on Christmas Day to start their own traditions....then I buy a couple after the holidays to replace what they took...this way they can take their favorites from childhood for their own tree.I also have a little decor for every room...things I put in the bath, kitchen etc. I will be doing that this weekend.

Ok, just an update. I DID buy the hat :) but as you can see I am not up there to put it up lol. (had to work today  ) So I won't be able to put it up until the weekend before Christmas. SO it will be after Christmas before I can get the pics. posted. But anyway, hubby asked WTH that hat was for lmao. So I told him hahahaha he gave me that look lol. Like one of those mastercard comm. Santa hat $1.40, Jackalope mount $50, look on hubby face when seeing the hat on jackalope, priceless LMAO

puddle, you are KILLING me! Need more pictures! I just have a small artifical tree a friend just gave me last year. I didn't have one before that. It's pre-lit (thank God) and just has "regular" ornaments except for a few that my father made that I've kept. I don't have much since it's just me, but it looks pretty when it's plugged in with all the other lights off.

Lmao Cannr

On that tree I have the least amount of lights I have ever put on a christmas tree  There are 700 lights on that tree. The one that I put up at home usually has between 2000 and 2500 lights. We love the lights lol. So put it this way, when you are watching TV you do not need a light on in the living room lol. Heck I think you could probably even read by the light coming from the tree. Plus we love the colored lights. Hubby had me flock a tree one year and he wanted the lights and ornimants red. It tured out really pretty. But I will NEVER folck a tree myself again. I will pay to have it done lol. Heck I think I have a pic. of that tree. Let me go look and I can post it.

You know, seeing as you all like to see my pics. (I love taking them also and sharing  ) I am going to work on my on-line photo album again. As soon as I get the chance I will let you all know the web page then you can look at all my pics. (Like my avator) I took a bunch of winter pics. and someone made that tag for me using a pic. of mine. She also made some e-mail stationary for incredimail for me using my pics. Now you have me all fired up about it and I will probably be working on that instead of my christmas candy  I will post it when I am done uploading all my pics. again.

I am sooooo excited!!! I went shopping with my daughter on Monday and I found an even better hat for hubby mount lmao. It is a dog hat and scarf set lmao. Plus I got it for $.80 :) When hubby saw it he asked me what that was for and I told him, he rolled his eyes  But I did end up putting it on my sons cat hahahaha that was so funny. My other cats wouldn't let me put it on them. But I did take a pic. of her with it on and I will probably post that tomorrow. You all will get a kick out of it. I just had to tell you :) I will also take pics. of the mount and post them when I get back on Wed. I will be leaving Friday night wooohoooo. (crossing fingers for tons of snow this weekend, we are supposed to get some,I want to try out our new snowmobiles :) )

He knew I was going to do it, but when I did he just rolled his eyes lol. But now his brother is coming up this weekend and he is going to see them and make fum of hubby for letting me do it lmao. Plus I took a pic of the tree with the stuff under it. You can see the cats stockings on our little heater. It looks so cozy.
