You know, I was reading in the newspaper about a couple whose only son died over the summer. A few weeks after he died, his dog died..Presumably of a broken heart. This sad couple decorated their house for Christmas in their son's honor..These people will never have grandkids, they are devastated. It made me cry, my little boy asked me why I was sitting at the table crying. I explained it to him, and he gave me a hug.
We all have our problems, and sometimes they are overwhelming and it seems like the end of the world. But I think we need to remember that we have things, important things, to be thankful for. I thank God that I have my son and my husband. We are healthy and have enough. I want more, but I don't need it. There are people with so much less than me.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope you all stay safe, happy and healthy. I, on the otherhand... ...have been down with bronchitis since Tuesday. A lovely middle of the night trip to the ER where I met Santa Claus who had two broken fingers...

I am spending my time in bed, with laptop, reading forums, playing online Gin and watching TV. I hope to be better enough in time to celebrate properly.

Have a blessed holiday season! Thank you all for being a part of this girls life! You all have been wonderful and I know I feel blessed to call you all "friends". You have been there in my time of need and been so supportive during some rough times, and you will never know how much it is truly appreciated! Christmas is not about what you get, but what you give. I have been fortunate to give a little this Christmas:

Sending stuff to our troops through my daughter's school and my new job.

Took some things (goodies) to some people, the wife is terminal and the husband is on disability and the daughter is doing most things for them.

Played "Santa" for my brother, so he did not have to buy himself something to put under the tree to have something to open with his girls (one is a step daughter). Just found out that he lost his house to forclosure. (between the ex wife - having to pay her almost $300 a month child support when they have 50/50 custody and she filed for this 8 days after their divorce was final), finding out that she did not pay his 2004 business taxes and they are now taking almost $200 per week from his paycheck, having his car repoed and having to pay the difference on what he owed for the car after they resold it, getting is 6 year old daughter every other week, trying to make regular bills with hardly no money due to all this and trying to live.

Plus trying to take care of my own family and getting things ready for my son to leave next month (the 29th).

Most of the things I got everyone was on sale or at discount stores. My mom is splitting the cost of the Santa for my brother and I my Christmas money that was sent to me by my folks to do this, plus I got a Christmas bonus (even though had only been there less than a month) from my new job and used that too for all this.

It makes me feel so good to do this, plus I have some things for my brother and his girls here from us. They will be over in a couple of hours.

We have extended open invitiations for dinner tomorrow to some people that we know that said they were going to be home by themselves for Chirstmas, and I will have plenty.

So I feel blessed. Oh I did get a dozen of red roses from the young man and his family that I helped earlier in the year from my old job. He finially told me he knew it was me that gave him the $100, but did not want to embarrass me or cause problems for me at my job. Made me feel wonderful.

My gift to all of you here, including Vikas, Mike and everyone else, is my undying thanks for being the wonderful people that you are!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Karen
