The safest way to pay on online is with some sort of personal digital security device that verifies your identity. This ensures no one can fraudulently use your personal information. This may be a one-time password (OTP) token, a small device that generates a different password you must enter for every online payment or login. Or it could be a smart card-the mini computer inside your bankcard with special security software. You can either insert your card into a small reader to generate an OTP or connect the smart card to your PC with a USB reader. These both act as an additional security measure when you pay online or login to your bank account.

Currently there are plenty of payment processor available in the market.Or even some of the banks also act as payment processors.Your own bank where your checking account is,can be a payment processor. Most of the bank have their own payment processing system.

Banks offer credit cards and debit cards to their customers. All the bank wishes that their customer's money should be safely transacted for the right purpose. So,they take maximum efforts to safeguard the interest of the customer.

In order to achieve this they issue some of the guidelines while dealing with internet payment option. If any person takes care some (ideally all) of the instructions carefully and follow it,there are hardly any chances of getting fooled.

1.Do not give your internet banking password (even username as well) to anyone (even officials of the bank are not allowed to ask you the password)

2.Transact only with those sites which are having https protocol instead of regular http. https refers to secured server which are having higher security norms.

3.Never share your credit card number as well as CVV number to any unknown entity on the internet.(if you want to pay through credit card still make sure you get enough information of the person/institution to whom you are paying)

4.Some of the payment processors which offer online payment services without disclosing your credit card details with other counterparts.
i.e.paypal,moneybookers,epassporte,googlepay,amazon,2checkout,alertpay,

I won't advice that any one of them is the best choice, every person might have his own favorites and according to the residential address of the person (particularly country) payment processor may be chosen because there is not a single payment processor in the above list which has presence all over the world.

So,it will be biased result to say any one of the above company as a best and safest way to pay online.

As long as it is supporting your country and they have all the stringent rules mentioned above you can choose any one of them.

Keep in touch.............

Use a credit card. Never use a debit card or give checking account information. This opens you up to continued debits on your account that you cannot stop. If you use a credit card, or use your ATM card in credit mode, you have recourse. You can tell the bank or card issuer that the debit wasn't authorized. I had to close a bank account because I couldn't get a pdl to stop EFT debits from it. I never got my money back from that pdl, either, even though they were sued by the State of California.

Really this question can be subjective to each individual person, like a diet everyone has different needs, expectations and requirements so its be to do a little research before you make a decision or possibly even use multiple ways. Paypal seems to be the industry standard for on line payments and it is my top choice for buying things on-line from eBay, Amazon or anywhere else. I like that money is sent to and from people and businesses without providing any real financial information to the end user, all they see is that money has been sent to them and they now need to ship out your item or complete service. There have been occasions when I have had to contact Paypal directly, mostly regarding not shipped eBay items, and have found that their customer service is very helpful and they do what they can within reason to help you. And can even reimburse you in certain situations and go after the other party for the amount plus fees. It is the friendly and fast service, along with the financial privacy that Paypal provides that make it my top on-line payment method. Remember please that your mileage may vary, if you are looking for different opportunity I have found success particularly when buying out of the US items, using Alertpay. Very similar to Paypal and I have found that the foreign companies I deal with use them as they are based in Europe. Again Paypal for the #1 spot but if you find it doesnt fit your needs or is not offered Alertpay would be a good alternative to consider.

The best way to avoid online shopping frauds and risk your personal information is NOT to shop online. But, is you must, make sure that the website has the little "lock" in the url address at the top of the screen; this means you are in a secure site. Also, if you are just too scared to use your own personl credit cards, buy a pre-paid credit card and shop or pay bills that way. Never send any personal information in an e-mail. And, keep all confirmation and receipt numbers of your transactions for your records.

I believe you should only purchase online from a well known company. And, never use a credit care or debit card unless it is a secure site. Using paypal or other such company is the safest way to pay. If you are paying a bill online get a conformation number and keep it in a safe place. Make a note of the date and time the conformation number was given. If you speak to a live person, jot down their name also.

The safest way is to do it through your online bankings website using their bill pay. Another method is Paypal. With both of these methods, you have some protection if someone decides to double dip or taking money they are not unathorized to.

A good idea. Get a debit card, like Green Dot. Load just enough to pay the bills. They can't do any thing fraudulant that way because when the money is gone from the debit card, it's gone!

I do alot of online shopping and have for years. With the questionable economy; desperate times bring about desperate measures which often lead to identiy theft. I find that the safest way of paying on line is purchasing a pre-paid Visa card and only loading it with what you anticipate spending at that present time. The one thing about it;a crook can"t steal what isn't available to be stolen for you.

It has been my experience that the safest way to pay a bill online is to use a prepaid credit/debit card. The reason why I feel this to be the safest option is that a prepaid credit card has a set amount of money put on it, usually the amount of the bill. When the prepaid credit card is draine of funds no more can be aquired. In addition, a prepaid credit card does not require the use of any personal information such as bank account numbers or social security numbers. Because of this, anyonae attempting identity theft through an online payment can get nothing more than the persons name and possibly any residual funds left on the card after payment, if any. To make yourself even safer from identity theft only make transactions a company that provides secure transactions.

When you use a debit Visa or MC - that allows them access to your accounts (any really good hacker could find all your information from that card). You take the chance of having fraudulent charges pulled and sometimes, even of credit card fraud. If you use a major credit card, if you don't pay the balance in full - you are subject to the interest/fees scam. I suggest you buy a reloadable card and use it alone for phone and internet purchases. This protects you by protecting your financial information. In this world of identity theft, the less you use your basic financial information any where you cannot physically watch it being used, you run the chance of becoming a victim - and none of us are victims, are we?

Personally I believe the safest way to pay online is through paypal. When using paypal you will link your bank acct to paypal. And you send user's that accept paypal the amount you want to send them. The only thing about paypal if you send a user your money and they don't send your item, it's hard to get your money back. I recommend paypal!

Ensure that the company that you are using has a secure web server that allows you to log in. These web servers are usually HTTPS:// type sites. If you attempt to pay at a site that doesn't have a secure server, your information is being sent in the clear. This means that the site could hold and use your information for other purposes. Always look at the sites web address to ensure it is a secure site.

The safest way to pay online is thry paypal where you are insured thru them so the seller can not just take your payment and not send you the items. Another way is thru a prepaid credit card used just for purchases and you can just put what is needed to pay for that item on the card so no one can take anything else out. But Paypal insures your payment so I would choose paypal

Shop on websites you know and trust. Keep your computer updated and make sure you have virus protection. Always scan your computer at least once a week. Never go on a website not recognized by the Better Business Bureau. If you aren't sure whether a site is secure, find a number and call them. Ask questions. Make sure you are not signing up for something you have no clue about. Your computer's stability is the best way to fight online fraud, keep it updated and be very careful where you buy from.

I have been charged for memberships to certain clubs that I have no interest in on several occasions. I like paying bills and purchasing on the internet. but it has been become very unsafe. The safety route I found is Pay-Pal, and with my bills my account is pre-recorded and I just approve it. it only has the last numbers. For other I purchases I watch the section
for my creditcard information. A legal safe site usually is encripted
with a visual security symbol and it will ask more than on one
entry is this the correct amount before it actually goes through.
If the site takes your entry in jerky, fast motion, it usually
pass through information to other sites or is trying to pull something illegal or unarthorized.

I feel that the safest way to pay online is to use a prepaid debit card. When using a prepaid debit card you are in control of how much money that is on your prepaid debit card. Plus, there is no way that an on-line company can withdrawal more money than what you put on your prepaid debit card. Thank you.

I love buying online - no hassles with crowds, queues or traffic - so I purchase online whenever possible. I also pay as many bills as possible online for similar reasons but also because you have an immediate receipt which can be used to verify payment.

I don't mind using credit cards to pay for things with reputable companies like Amazon etc... However, I keep a credit card with a low limit for online purchases - that's just in case hackers manage to get to credit card details.

If I'm purchasing from I company I'm not sure of, or from an individual I don't know, then I prefer to use Paypal. That's only because all they get is your paypal email address; they don't get your credit card details and a payment can be reversed, if necessary.

In fact, we've had problems with credit card fraud because someone physically got hold of our card details, rather than through the virtual world!

I personally enjoy making purchases online, I am at a point that I am working on fixing my credit, so I am being very cautious. I have my personal checking accounts that although the site may say that it is safe, I am still cautious. So what I in turn did was to go to Wal-Mart & spent $4.95 & purchased the pre-paid Visa card. Which allows me to not have to link my personal checking account to this card. And only what is on the card is able to be used. So therefore, in the event that anything happened only what is on the card is able to be used. So to avoid possible fraud, invest the $4.95 in a pre-paid Visa/Mastercard & keep your personal checking account just that Personal Checking....

The best way to pay online is to make sure the site that your paying on is secure and it typically will have a secure symbol either on the top or bottom of the page. Also, recieveing a confirmation number is also a great way to make sure that your payment is secure. Personally though, I like to make my payment with a customer service representative and give them my card number right over the phone to ensure that it's someone that I'm speaking with and not just a computer that I'm entering information on.

I have become the person that appreciates the ease of paying for things, which include shopping, paying bills, donations, online. I usually only use sites that are trusted. I don't like to pay with debit cards, credit cards, etc. My most commonly used method of payment is paypal.com. I like to be able to use paypal for places such as ebay where I can for one save money and earn money. I can keep money in these accounts to set aside, for instance community rewards on this site can be paid via paypal so I put the rewards aside and when I am thinking about something that I can use. I often have those funds set aside, which can be used at many sites.

I have been a victim at least twice in regard to "online shopping fraud". It was a very unfortunate experience because the fraud dropped my checking account into the negative. I was "hit" with multiple "insufficient funds" fees, and then the process of retrieving the stolen money had to begin. It was a colossal pain in the neck, to be quite honest with everyone. From what we (the bank and I) could gather, someone had bought multiple online gaming programs, (the same one, no less) using my bank account. So, an investigation had to start to make sure I wasn't the one who had ordered the games and so on. Again, a huge headache that Bayer Aspirin couldn't supply a big enough pill for. After roughly two weeks, the situation was remedied, I did get my money back and was refunded the fees. Of course, the long and the short of it was that the perpetrator/fraud specialist-extraordinaire was never caught. My hope is that he/she DOES get caught, gets placed on one of those 20/20 or Dateline specials, and then I can watch it all go down! That would be a -"twofer"-...I'd get to watch one of my favorite programs (20/20 or Dateline) AND I would have gotten my money back. As far as how I view on line shopping now, and the safety precautions that must be taken, well, that's a whole other ballgame. I try to ONLY buy stuff online if I absolutely have to. For example, if Target had a sale and I went to the store to buy a specific item, they may not have it. With that said, I might go online to buy the item. However, sometimes, the internet just has better items to buy then the retail stores. So, if I bought something online now, I'd make sure not to include passwords that included my social security number, or other identifying numbers. Hope this helps!
