Am I being discriminated - unable to raise my credit score

I am a hispanic woman. My last name is clearly hispanic. I need a credit card for my job. I have been paying on time and repairing my score for over 2 years. And yet, every single card I apply for tells me I have delinquent or collections on all three of my credit reports. I have diligently kept up with each of those reports and have disputed each discrepancy. When I look at my report it's not bad. There is not that much on there that shows bad debt or even the other stuff that can bring your score down. But my score has not changed much AND I dont understand how each company keeps telling me I'm not eligible. By the way...I just purchased a home in the $175K+ and a pool loan. Why can I get those but not a simple credit card. I'm so frustrated because I do not see the bad reports the response letters are referring too. I am starting to think it's not that bad at all but that my lasts name has something to do with it.
What do you think? And what do I do if that is true?

Hi hahardy2005,

Don't let your heart down. The system of assigning credit score to each individual was started to abolish all kind of discrimination and to help people to be judged unbiased.

You might have any problem in understanding the report properly. The calculation of credit score is also a complex process. If you want to improve your score, you should move strategically. I think some counselor or technical person can suggest you the best tactics for you after analyzing your report.

Bryan

It does become disheartening and is very personal. But I am tenacious and will get my "poop-n-a-group" regardless. You are correct I should get some counseling on reading the reports. I'm not one to scream discrimination but sometimes it really feels that way. Thanks again...

Hi,

Here is an update for you. Recently there was a discussion on the topic how much reliable the process of calculating credit score is. Few people have found some discrepancies in their score and become doubtful about the process.
