Escape Brooklyn is maintained by Escape Brooklyn. She is 30-something, married woman, and a nonprofit professional from Brooklyn New York. This blogger will complete her one year in blogging on next January but she has already made her mark in this blogosphere. She started blogging with the motivation to note down her financial progress. She wanted to inspire her husband in his financial decisions, so she decided to start this blog. She has one more motivating factor which is really very interesting; she uses her blog to find a cheaper city as she wants to move from New York as it is very expensive.

She blogs on money related issues like money management, personal finance, spending, savings etc. Other than money, she blogs about expensive life of New York and her plan to move into another city which is very cheap.

She has an MFA in film and video and a BA in English. But she also has a never ending student debt but she is not really upset with this. Her work experience with a nonprofit organization made her learned that living with fewer resources is possible.

She shares a few financial tips for debt struck people:

“Track your spending, live below your means, avoid credit cards, save at least 10% of your income (even if you don't make a lot), save more as you earn more (ideally 20%+), avoid student loans, buy your own home or apartment ASAP with a 30-year fixed mortgage, and read personal finance magazines like "Money" so you are empowered to make your own financial decisions. Don't be intimidated by so-called financial advisers because it's not that hard. If I can do it, you can do it!”

She keeps herself updated by reading blogs like Boston Gal's Open Wallet, Windy City Blues, My Open Wallet, Change Can Be a Good Thing etc.
