Zen Habits is maintained by Leo Babauta. He “initial motivation was to share some things I've been learning, and to form a community of people to help each other achieve goals. Since then, I've discovered the amazing feedback of my readers, and that encourages me to keep doing what I do. It's amazingly fun.”

At present, he is focusing on writing some books and as he puts it, “I always have a thousand plans … … And I just hope to keep improving the site, a little bit at a time.”

Some Financial tips for People in Debt:

Reduce spending and learn to be frugal.
Find ways to increase your income.
Learn to budget, plan your spending, and live within your means.
Start saving an emergency fund.
Payoff debts as quickly as possible.
Do the above in baby steps -- don't try to change your lifestyle too
drastically.
Celebrate every little success.
Once you've done all of the above, begin investing for the future.
Set financial goals.
If you share finances with a partner, be sure to have weekly discussions and planning sessions about finances.

Message for our community members:

“I think the most important message I can send is to make your happiness a priority. Too many times people focus on achievement, or work, or failures, or the million little stresses of life. Instead, take control of your life and figure out what's most important to you.

That's the essential stuff -- the 4-5 things that are most important in your life. Then focus on these, and eliminate as much of the rest of the stuff in your life as you can. Too often we allow other things to take up our time, instead of what's important to us. Instead, start today, and focus on the essential.”
