Default judgement

I just found out on a credit report that I had a recentjudgement for a past unpaid credit card debt which I was not aware of (debt or jusgement). I never received the original court paperwork notifying me of an original court date. I had moved from the address that was listed with the creditor and never received or signed for any mail.
My question...If the debt is legitimate I would like to pay it if I am responsible for it. However, I do not want the judgment listed on my credit. Is there a way I can vacate the judgement if I prove I have not lived at the address they have listed and have never received any supoenas? What steps do I need to take?
Thanks

Thanks for the info Justme.
I do not believe I changed my address with the creditor. The last I was aware is that the count was paid in full. Does it matter if I never informed them of a new address?
How likely do you think it would be to have the judgement vacated, and then assuming the debt is mine, pay the creditor without having another judgment entered?
Thanks again. You've been very helpful.

File a motion and let's see what happens from that point. The credit company has to come up with all the valid papers to prove this debt. At the most, the court will ask you to pay this debt after analyzing your financial situation. Most common form is wage garnishment. You won't have another judgment listed in your credit report if this one is valid.
