question about ppl Nationwide
Date: Thu, 06/29/2006 - 07:49
I called them after recieving an email. Needless to say they were very rude. I want the account marked paid in full. They told me that they don't have to follow the laws of my state(texas). I have read on here that Mr. Williams their attorney doesn't exist. Is that true? I thought about sending him a certified letter. How could he sign for it?
Has anyone got them to mark an account as paid in full. Is this going to be a big battle. I have not had problems with United, or Apple....
Any help appreciated.

You may not be able to get them to negotiate with you. They are pretty tough to deal with. Search on the forum there are lots of discussions and posting about dealing with them. We just got them paid off and they would not negotiate. Good luck!

Don't pay anything further. The company will get in touch with you after not receiving the payments. Put the account under verification. If they can prove that you owe a balance, make further payment arrangements otherwise consult an attorney to get the paid in full letter.

What does it mean to put it under verification? Do I need to request that in writing? I am going to fax them a letter tomorrow about the Laws against pay day loans. They did contact me today in an email. I called them and they got very rude on the phone. Told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. They also told me that the payments that I have been making have been put towards finance charges......whatever.

You need to know why they are not marking your account as paid in full. They think that you owe a balance to them. So get the latest loan statement and verify the total payments done by you. Dispute anything that is posted incorrectly. Once the dispute is resolved, the company is bound to mark it as paid in full if you owe nothing. If they are unwilling to do, give it a legal shape.

I am dealing with Nationwide also. They claim that they do not have to follow my state laws. Lynne at Nationwide is very rude and unprofessional. She claims that she is a paralegal, and that she knows the law. She called me immediately once I sent them the letter requesting my account be marked paid in full. She immediately started yelling at me, threatening to sue, etc. I paid them $212.50 on a $100.00 loan, and still had $50.00 due on the principal. There so called law office contacted me spouting off a bunch of laws and why they did not have to follow my state laws. Dennis Williams either doesn't exist or doesn't take any phone calls, as I have never been able to actually talk to him (personally, I think it's a made up name for a made up law firm). At any rate, they certainly want every dime they can get from you.
Nationwide Cash
When I dealt with them this character named "Ray Perry"
called and flipped out,it was quite the show! I told him what I would and would not do. He said"Who do you think you are dictating to?" I said, you! He hung up and Sicked Lynne on me there after. She's quite the charmer!
As for Williams,I to as well do others in this forum,
believe he's a made up character.
Don't let them get you down! They are a bunch of uneducated clowns playing lawyer and his moll!!

Okay I talked to Nationwide yesterday and guess what they did today....tried to debit my account 5 times for the amount of $415 I have already stopped payment on this so they couldn't get any money. Of course I got charged $20 for each returned debit at the bank. I called them again today. Asked to talk to Mr. Williams...he was not in.Talked to Robert. He could not really tell me anything. I asked for a copy of the contract that states they can debit my account 5 times in one day for different amounts then what I agreed to pay. Also it was not on my agreed upon date. He said they can do that up to 3 times....what is that all about. I did tell him that I was going to forward my letter of complaint to the Attorney General's office and the BBB. What do I do if they continue to try to get money out of my account?

I went to my bank and opened a new account and closed my old account. As far as I know, they never tried to debit my account after I sent them the letter revoking authorization to debit my account, but I am not sure since I closed the account due to unauthorized debits. Dennis Williams did send me an email saying that Nationwide would not debit my account any further, but I know that others here have received emails stating that also, but then they proceeded to try to debit the account anyway. You may ask your bank if they can block debits from them, but I also know that some of these places will try to debit under different company names too. It seems like the best thing to do would be to close your account. Do you have other payday loans, or is this the only one that you are trying to stop?
