If you consolidate your debts, the accounts will get paid off through the program. This is better than leaving the accounts in delinquent shape. The consolidation program does not hurt your credit negatively. It appears in your file as long as you are enrolled in it. Your credit scores remain unaffected after enrolling in the program. You will be able to see the improvement once the accounts get paid off and the creditors update with the bureaus. Talk to a counselor who will assist you in solving rest of your queries.
