In settlement company and received letter of Arbitration
Date: Fri, 07/14/2006 - 09:33
Anyone heard of: MannBracken, LLC?
I received this letter today and quickly
notified my settlement company. They are
familiar with them and state that they do
work with them.
I am confused now...is this just a scary
hairy letter? or is this the serious last
steps before they hang me?
Do they next go to take me to court and to
garnish my check or what?
I am terrified.....
PLEASE help.

It looks like they work toward collecting debts. If your settlement company has worked with them before they should be able to tell you how the process works and what you should expect.

Also notify the collection office about this debt included in the settlement program. They need to be updated with your latest moves so that they stop from taking any actions against you. It may take some time for the settlement company to get the proposal finalized by the collection office. Keep in constant touch with your counselor for the latest news.

My settlement company advised me NOT to contact
them. They would contact them for me and work with
them.
Should I contact them anyway or do as the program
says?
The reason they say not to contact them, is because
they tend to be more aggressive and intimidating.
???
It is all new to me.

Guess, if you talk to the CA while your settlement company is negotiating for an arrangement, their might be a mix up of words causing different lines. The CA will not understand who is putting the clear picture. And your consultant is right that CAs are aggressive and rude towards the debtors. So, don't talk to them directly. Keep in touch with your consultant and know about your accounts. I think you have been successful in clearing some of your past accounts with the settlement company. Isn't this the same company you had been talking all about?
Yes, it is the same company--but I have not had any accounts set
Yes, it is the same company--but I have not had any accounts settled yet. I have only been in program for 9 months and look forward to settling one acct soon.
I am just scared they will come to my house and start taking things!!!!! Or try to get a judgment against me and take my pay check and come to my house to get my things. NOT that we have nice, nice things, but I have a basic walmart computer and flea market musical instruments that we have collected over the years. My husband does taxidermy and mounts alot of road kill animals and they are worth $$ in some peoples eyes (I am sure) but we would never want to part with any of them. We have a paid off 1996 S10 blazer that was wrecked 5 years ago and it is setting in back of land worth salvage costs of 25.00.
I mean, we have nothing....no assets. Someone please tell me what you think the credit card compaines will do to me? I mean, they are all in my settlement progam, but still I have all these fears. I hear so many stories--I hear that they can't get blood out of a turnip and will write it off and work with the settlement company. Then I hear that the laws changed and they are not working with settlement companies. Then I hear that they will not go through with court cases and then I hear they do.
??? I hear judges don't care if your in the settlement program or not, and then I hear that most judges will not grant a judement against you if your working with your settlement company.
??????? I have good day, bad days and scary days.
Linda Leave your fear aside and do as the settlement company
Linda
Leave your fear aside and do as the settlement company says because you have already made the serious decision. Now, your settlement company will try to settle your accounts with the creditors before they run out the SOL period. The creditors are well aware that if the debt is out of the statutes, they can't earn a single penny after that. So, there are great chances of your proposal being accepted. If the matter is taken to the court, you will have the documentation to prove your responsibility. The judge won't make bad decisions since you are showing your keen responsibility in clearing off the debts. Don't think much. You have taken all the steps to improve your situation. Leave it upon time, I can only say that much if that makes you feel comfortable.
