As a former paralegal at a large collection firm, I would suggest you seek out a debt settlement company
that has the education and experience necessary to handle the creditors. I believe it is important that all creditors are contacted immediately and be notified that "XYZ" company is representing you. Sitting on a debt for too long may engender problems for you.
Debtshield and Curadebt are both settlement companies with fairly average reputations. To be frank, it doesn't take very much to be considered a reputable settlement company as long as the company is not purposely trying to administer a scam.
If you are interested in learning more about the settlement process as it pertains to banking procedure, I'd be more than happy to assist you. Mind you, I was in the business several years ago and some nuances, in terms of rights concerning consensual liens or something along those lines, may be approached differently by certain collectors than before.

You will be getting a call from the counselor for a debt managem
You will be getting a call from the counselor for a debt management program. Depending upon your financial situation, he will negotiate with your lenders and notify them about your enrollment in the program. Your debt accounts need to be analyzed before any payment plans can be framed for you. A settlement program works the best especially if the debt is huge and is unable to make the minimum payments. You can go through the benefits of this program at the page below:
