There's a lot of rules here..Basically, for a non-federal debt the feceral law is 25% of disposable earnings. For federal debts like child support and back taxes it can be up to 50%. Defaulted student loans can only be garnished up to 15%.
Disposable income is the amount of your paycheck minus your state's taxes and also any voluntary deductions, such as profit sharing, 401k, and IRA withholdings that you might have.
