lanita, I called the number and it says NCO. It's a collection agency. Do you have any past debt account with your credit company? They might be doing the collections for it.

The only thing I have left is 2 PDLs; one being Ambassador and the other United Cash Loan. Ambassador refuses to give anything in writing and will only deal over the phone and UCL tried deducting a check from my checking account that the bank had finally closed for $85.00 but now says I owe 65.00 to pay in full It was a $200 loan and they hd been deducting $75.00 since January 23rd.

See if anyone of these loan companies has forwarded your file to NCO. There are many bitter experiences of people dealing with these companies. You should be aware about your consumer rights before settling with them. NCO is supposed to send you something in writing about the debt account if their collection is genuine? Did you receive anything in the mail?

I answered my cell phone when it rang this morning and all it was was a recording to call. When I called first they did not want to help because I did not write down the number they left in the recording. When I gave my name and address they could not pull anything. Finally I gave my cell phone number which I have had for over a year and they pulled it that way. Evidently my cell phone number had been a TMobile number that had went to collections. They were going to argue with me that it was my account when the name, address nor I have never had a T-Mobile account. I have always had Cingular and evidently I made the mistake of adding a line on my account and getting this number! The person was very rude and very hard to understand

Understanding FDCPA guidelines
I worked in collections for a year and am well versed in fdcpa guidelines. No collection company has the right to call your cell number. If and when you speak to these idiots remind them this is your cell and ask them to remove the number from their system. By law they must comply and if they do not they are in direct violation of the FDCPA. Consumers have rights and this is one of them. You can also have them remove your home phone number from their system so that any and all contact from the company can be restricted to the US Mail. Hope this helps.
