We are thinking about negotiating with our creditors to agree on a settlement plan, instead of hiring a debt settlement company. Is this a smart thing to do? We were going to hire a company to do this but we can't figure out which one to use.

If we do try to attempt this what department should we send it to and should it be sent signiture reguired?

Thank you

Mike

The "DIY' will help you in how to move ahead in negotiating with your creditors. Your proposals should be very realistic when you send it to your credit companies. They have to feel your financial situation first so that they work with your payment arrangements. Most credit companies have some financial hardship programs for the needy ones. They have a separate dept. handling such matters. Have a look at this link.
